I'm neutral towards open diplo, haven't given it too much thought. Could do with either open diplo or stick with AI-diplo, either is fine for me.
+1 for RefSteel making the map, they have been great!
I will be travelling next week, so I would prefer that the game would start earliest in beginning of August (seems likely anyway, with needing to lock in settings, players and allow time for map making).

I can't speak for the other players, but in case the question is partly for me, I haven't even started rolling candidate maps yet (and won't for at least a couple more days) so adding another player is no problem at all from my end.

So what's the situation with the mod? Has it been changed recently or is it in the process of changing? It's been a while so I'd like to play to get used to it but idk if the mod will be different when we eventually play.

We are "discussion" changes right now.
We are not at a second post per person (or even a first from most).
I do want to post a second post for a few days, but I never sat down to do it. Maybe tomorrow ?
Implementing the changes should be relative fast for most of the discussed changes right now.

On the map:
I've not had much gaming time lately, but did roll up enough maps to get three candidates for six players, choose my favorite, and make a general plan for edits. Note that last game definitely appeared to have noticeable variation between the quality of the starts, and this one will likely have even more (i.e. it will be even closer to the original random map, with fewer edits) but as usual (when I'm mapmaking and not just rolling something random) I'll try to make each start fun and playable. My sense is that the consensus is for a map with a bit less land than last game, but similar strategic resource and mana balance/distribution (and still at least ~15 tiles between players). Let me know if I have any of that wrong - including if I miscounted and there are more or fewer than 6 players!

Short update here.
If I get no other opinion - please in the EitB 13 thread - I would start implementing the following changes on the weekend.
Code: Spell extension 2 requires the promotion Summoner (and Spell extension 1)
Remove Mobility 1 from SPI/ARC
Move Mobility 2 to Stirrups
Split Metamagic 2 in 2 Spells, Dispel to remove (De)Buffs remains as is, new Spell "Dispel mana node" with casting time of 3 turns
Change the requirement for Magic Resistance from Combat 3 to Combat 1 - this includes easier access to Resist Fire/Poison/Cold/Lighting
Aristocracy back to -40% maintenance reduction to distance
Reduce combat strenght of (arch)mages down to 3
