I cant seem to find the BN_ discussion, 1.10, in the Diablo II Variants list.

Nor can I find the thread that, some months ago, we discussed this in.

Sounds like a good time to reinstate VNite :wub:

VNite is to encourage people who don't usually play much, or just don't play much on bnet, to make one day out of a week to catch up with friends to shoot the breeze and maybe catch a few games.
VNite is to encourage people to bring in their variants to coop with other similar characters.
Everyone is welcome (even with non Variant character) to join games and chat, and to play as long as proper courtesy is given to the game setting (Observe what variant(s) are in game).

Reminder: Channel RBD is the place to meet when bnet hiccups and trashes games.

Semi/Cripples who can appreciate some good travel campanions:

AlleyBaba - Fallen from grace to a street thug singing for nickles and dimes with only one loyal thief by his side. He still have 2 name sake Ali Babas hoping to find his fortune again. He can only afford tshirts and baseball caps (a first for KoP, I despise caps) and saving up for a cap with Harley logo. He is in early 60s entering Hell.

Alice Co-oper - Lvl 40ish naked Traffic Controller. Skills are: Attract, DV (Hardly ever used), Confuse, Decrep, Prison (for traffic violations) and CE to clear road blocks.

BruiseKnee - naked kick asn at clvl 21. can kick ass in act 1 :wacko:

GoGoGadgets - Lvl 27 looking for Baal. No Skill baba

ACoolMeleeExp (ACME) - Melee version of GGG. Lvl 18 somewhere in act 2-3

GoodBadNUgly - Lvl 60 tri-were druid in hell 2. Rabies in wolf form to infect monsters, changes to human form and then to bear form and give monsters a shock therapy. Slow paced due to time for rabies to work and relatively low poison dmg in Hell. He can be one hack of a tank in bear form, not from items or vit pump but Shockwave is quite effective. Can be highly dangerous character to play - can die easy between transformations

Also: I will be pre-building a bunch of BN(x) characters for BN games. Everyone is encouraged to pre-build, which means starting a new character and lvl it to clvl 9 at which time it can be hostiled. Questing to Cain and OC is usual.

Use the forums user control to expand the amount of threads shown. Maybe we should make the default show more thread and let the user turn it down if s/he wants.

We have BNs around lvl 10 (act1) to lvl 16 (act2). so go ahead and lvl a BN if you want to join up. Hope to see you there later tonite

Seriously, I remember Griselda writing earlier about how the forum clock was off. Right now I have the forum set to EDT, at which the forum tells me it is 5:01 am October 28th, or about 14 hours ahead of the actual time by my Government Issue wall clock.

RB has always been a forward looking group of folks, right?

Are you sure you're b.net connection problems are not spreading?

I have struggled mightily with that b.net connection issue. I rather wish there was someone else in the family who had computer skills, as I know little. And what little I do know, I have learned from online gaming companions.



Today, on a recommendation from Shishak, I ran a tweak test at a site called broadbandreports.com to see what sort of connectivity I did have. It recommended an alteration to something called an RWIN (Receive Window), which I then accomplished by downloading a little program called Doctor TCP.

A few test runs today had me back to a ping of about 120 and no disconnections. May the gods of b.net permit that it stays that way.

Variant Night sounds like a good idea to me... I'm just finally getting back into Diablo 2 after years of being unable to play (first there was a crappy computer, then I couldn't afford it, then the college firewall scrambled online gaming, then I didn't have a decent Internet connection period, now I finally, for the first time since Diablo 2 came out, can play it online for an extended period of time). I haven't been around since about when Diablo 1 fell by the wayside, though; I can't remember when Variant Night is/was, or even the game names and the like.

For the record, I used to post as The Wanderer, back before D2 came out and gave the term a whole new meaning.

Currently playing a sword/shield Amazon... not much of a variant, but still more than different enough for a relative D2 amateur such as myself.

VNite is Tuesdays. Best thing to do is to check games rbd(n) where n is 1 to 9, 1-3 being normal games, 4-6 being NM games and 7-9 being Hell games.
