Sorry for a month later update and pictures, but beter than later than none i supose.

I see that Nakor upadated his thread so you must know he is under atack
[Image: 001.jpg]
This is the south army not that big , but enought to take that city, the pictures are after i load again the save so i know the out come, i lost no unit and took that city.Nakor its a nice guy even named the city good luck Mack, perhaps he knewed just abot this stack but north we have another one

Well taking this cities i lost a canon wich had 75% chances to retreat, but i cant complain, all the rest were victories so the city is mine, but i didn't atack with knigs because the spoil of war netted me 440 gold which i used to upgred most of them to cavalry.

I hope this war will not last more than 10 turns .

This are the most imporatn cities of empire:

The bank

very nice i may say.

The Military

As you see,i can build 1 cavalry per turn, and that i have forbiden palace here too, well the cost on this map are astronomical i was paying like 16 upkeep on this city, but there is another reasen the cities which i will get from Nakor will not cost me that much.

And the most important city:

Well without burocracy is not that great but this city caried me in this game.

Like a curiosity i build just 14 cotages and i have 15 cities so less then one cottage per city, but i will get some from Nakor, and anyway my economy from no one will based on state propercy and powerfull workshop.15 more turns until there.

Some demografics:

As you see first in power by a very large margin same in food, actualy in food i was all the game because i worked farm and coast and relying for production only on whiping, this will change as farms replaced with workshops, and usind state propercy i will be in top production.

My toughts is to reseach till infanteries shout research and buils few hundreds of those and finish the game.Lets see if others will agreelol

Good to know you settled on the dry rice as well! I took a totally different economic pathway than you, opting for cottage spam. Not great land for it though, I really wish I could build the Colossus but there was no way I could get away with that. On the other hand, I could get away with going for Sankore/AP/Spiral Minaret, but the game ended before they could really kick me into gear.

It will be interisting to compare, techs whith your aproach and mine, i supose you got everithing in your game: Liberalism the artist from music,Taj Mahal, In mine i could get liberalism if i wanted but i preferd more militaristic way so Lewwyn got it.I belived that i could destroy nakor with knigs and trebuchetes , but he got longbows, well that wasnt a problem, but Moogle lunched a long golden age and got acrazy Gnp and lewyn with libelarism and Nationhood became very strong so ia had to pass the atack because i was thinking perhaps Lewwyn will came after me.

About the religious way well , that was never an option for me because for me later era always implies State propercy (Scientific method its the worst tech in bts, it should have something like 20% reseach for libraies at least) so i will cancel any monastiries.

I only picked religious line because I wanted to fight culture wars, and one thing led to another, and I had a ton of temples and monasteries sitting there just waiting for the +2 boosts. The original plan was to expand aggressively just as you did, you just did it in more directions faster. I think I overbuilt military, my economy and tech rate was never as fast as yours, and that obviously has everything to do with your own empire management. We were 16 turns ahead of you, but I had barely gotten to rifling.

well in my game even Nakor which was cripled in the beggining(and it was totaly his fault, why do you want to pink dot and agresiv, creativ civ? and dont bother to have some archers at least...) its now 2 turns to rifling, and others alredy have it.

I cant wait to actualy see Nakor capital because until now his land its clearly beter than mine, and the city on the iron should been obviously his but no, he wanted to pink dot me twice with no army.

I posted this in Ioan therea i will post that here too:

This post realy made me luagh, and I will show why in my opinion and I think
until now i proved i now a litle bit about this game, Asoka's start and traits wher the strongest in the game:

1.I dint know how Ioan planted his capitol, but in the way Nakor did he had:
Deer, pig, horses cooper and i dont count the banana and wines. This is just way better that what i got, if i scale the from 1 to 10 and give this one 8 for example mine should be 4, why? If you go Bw in start there you have bronze if you go animal husbandry well you have horsies too.My bronze was 7 tiles away and i had to reseach fishing to have strong food, and with my starting tech i could't improve any of my food only a dry rice, which if i didn't setle one i wouldn't have the fish and i could carry on and on...

2.Second city for Asoka was no problem no need to try hard for cooper, or horses and you could very easily to overlap with capitol and start right away working an improved tile.

3.Happines , i had just gems in my starting area, when Asoka could get very easy : ivory, fur and gold .

4.With the amount of food on this map, you work just farms and cottages and of couse special tiles with Aztechs, yes I am talking about altar.
With a dedicated beline after getting basic techs, Iron working its not one Ioan, you can get there aroud 1000-800 BC.And at this point Asoka its clearly the strongest leader.Yes i am talking about spiritual you go 5 turns in caste and pop borders or go 5 turns organized religion anything you want.

Starting from turn 90 i payed more than 100 gold for civic upkeep make that
50 for Asoka and you have a picture what asoka can do.And i remmeber when i plante my 9 city that at size 4 was costing me 11 gold so with asoka and aztecks was just 2 pops for whiping a courthose and just 3 turns of unhapines..., man if this its not strong.

5.You dont have to be agresiv you just plant defensive at with masive boost production from begging just wait for oponent and later you go with more adavantaged weapons.

Mid game Spiritual its the stronger trait and organizat its very useful on this map with courthoses and lighoses. So many time i wanted to change for organizat religion to build oxford but the revolution penalty made me to keep teocracy for almost all the game.

In concluzion i will play from Asoka start pozition any time and I am sure that my development would be far stronger that with kubay kan wich doesnt have any skills for midle game and forward.
And like a further prove Nakor made it to rifles , having hist 3 and 4 citie burned.

Looking at Nakor's start I agree his land was better. His capital could have been insane. I wouldn't have planted where he planted. I also wouldn't have pinkdotted you like he did.

I do think that you're undervaluing CRE/AGG. Both as a combo and as individual traits they are really terrific. I was forced to build a monument in every city. That 20 hammers per city. 20 EARLY hammers that I could have spent on anything else. Also my libraries were twice as expensive than the CRE libraries. It just puts me in a hammer hole. AGG gives you cheap barracks and a HUGE edge over Nakor and I. You were able to take some of his awesome land based on that power (and his over extension).

I'll talk more about it in the post game thread, but even having seen the starts, given a choice I would have taken Kublai of France.

Knowing the starts i would took Asoka any day and i would just play defensiv, i would have second city out in 20 turns, and i can see 3 cities which you dont need monuments.Well you had mids and didn't felt like me the crashing economy, i tryed for them but you beat me(actualy i was about finishing hooking stone when bam, i couldn't just believe that everyone despite mids but build them...).
And krill about Asoka having a slow start i believe he could have the faster start taking in consideration how the resources are placed near him.

I agree his start should have been faster and yeah his land was so great. I would have loved to have his start.

I was really rushing those mids. But actually I really did feel the crashing economy my units were in strike at times and I had negative gold at 0% tech for close to 20 turns. I simply didn't have the commerce to back me up. I needed to keep expanding to block off the IMP Moogle and he still ended up settling more cities than me for a while until I settled a few closer to the end. Fun times.
