[Spoilers!] Shoot and Nakor at the round table

Yuck! That might be some of the ugliest starting land I have ever seen in a game here at RB.

Seeing as getting a quick bureau isn't going to really help us at all here, what do you think of going music first Nakor? Based on the whole "distant green land of legends" stuff there might be some decent land to snag with the GA. That or a nice bomb right around when we get Jans out could be devastating for someone (or someones depending on border situation).

Agreed, Burea is not that goodlooking... Music first is a good play since it will let us easily pop borders.
I'll look at the map later today at work since I got to run after taking a look at PB7....

Ok so I opened up the save. 827 land tiles, so 200 per civ. 10-15 cities depending on overlap.

Thoughts on scouting:

Northern archer NW.

Southern archer SE

Scout W (?)

My thoughts are basically to get as much info before settling as possible. After those moves should we stop to regroup and assess our option?

A couple other more broad thoughts: if the rest of this land is as barren, Colossus may be something worth targeting.

Also, we need to remember to change civics this first turn while settlers move! So as a reminder:

Ok, so Nakor agreed with the scouting moves, so I went ahead and did them with the one change being moving the scout NW-S instead of just W since that is strictly more efficient. Here are the results:

Also, just saw this:

Commodore, was that extra map knowledge intentional or left over from moving stuff around?

Oh, and for the lurkers sake, I'm thinking perhaps a city 2N of the copper and another NE of the southern crabs. However I'm not really sure on either of those and am waiting to see what Nakor thinks.

That's intentional.

Can't log into the game since I'm at work, so you'll have to do the work on this one, Shoot!

I agree with 2N of the copper. I think we culd also get a city 2S of the copper, but we need workers first.

Second city looks a bit trickier. Your suggested NE of the southern crabs only give the city crabs for sure. If we settle 2E of the plains hill the settler is on, we can share the wheat after border pops but we don't have anything good to work on for sure before that...

Another possible option is 1SE of the copper... get's banans and cows, later on clams as well.

Man, this is dry land indeed. Commodore's comment suggest that better land is on the island east of us, but we'll have to struggle to get there...

What civics do we adopt?

What about E of the clams? Has bananas and sugar in the BFC to provide extra food.

Also, do you think worker north and chop? Or perhaps chop at the SE city -- that way if say the worker moves SE-SE it reveals extra map info in addition to moving onto a forest to chop out a second worker.
