[SPOILERS] Dazedroyalty - One Thousand and One Camel Archers

I got the save but my warrior was one north of where he was in the screenshot. So moving south got me nothing new. instead I moved west. I spent a minute trying to figure out why my warrior was in a different spot. Was it because if I could have moved onto that southern hill I would have seen something too good? Was it because I'd be to close to a neighbor? Was it because it was to my disadvantage and it was moved to help me out? These are the questions I'll never know the answer to... or until I read the map thread.

I also decided to settle in place for lack of any significantly better option available. I immediately discovered that plako wasn't kidding about "close neighbors!"

Turn 0 is a hard turn to guess the map but my immediate thought was somethign like this:



The only problem is that it fits 6 players not five and the N and S spots would be slightly bigger. But given how close Kyan is to my SE, it's gotta be something not unlike this!

Ginger Eagle is to my north. I feel guilty but it's nice to have him as one of my direct neighbors. I will be able to concentrate on Kyan. That's probably the fairest way to go... next to the best player and the green-est player. We'll see if it ends up being a blessing or a curse!

I have intentionally decided to redirect my warrior south here. I feel like for pure exploration, continuing west is a good idea. However, if there is a way around the mountains to Kyan, I want to be the first one to find it!

Also, I think my first guess on the map was fairly accurate, but there are probably only 5 zones since the mountain line with GE doesn't go straight.

Just to note that someone is clearly working the forest plains hill right away. I can't remember off the top of my head everyone's starting civs/techs but its either a WB build or a worker build. I should look that up...

How many land tiles? That could shed some light on your theory (a pretty likely theory) and give you an idea of how much land there is on the outer "ring" - or how much settler rushing you have to do.

Don't be silly! That sort of analysis is for pros and experts or--if nothing else--the perpetually "bored with too much time on my hands" sort of people. however, I'd be very glad to send you the save and have you do that sorta thing for me!

Apparently I'm the one of the few who really enjoy sleuthing out the map. And yet I detest micro plans... I don't know what that says about me.

But seriously, figuring out the number of land tiles takes 1.5 seconds! It's not like it's complex - just hover over score and it tells you how many land tiles there are.

Turn 5:



You can see my warrior is about to round the corner into Kyan's land. Also, GingerEagle has shown up. If that was a warrior, I'd be SCREWED! However, it's just a scout so no big deal. I don't have any improved tiles he can block me from. He could sit on the rice and then my worker would be bored. But without defensive terrain, he'd be asking to be killed. I still am definitely going to build a warrior next tho!

1) Wish I had gone straight towards Kyan to get him off his worker build.

2) He'll have to keep a warrior home now!

Current situation:



I swapped to a warrior in Mecca because if GE stays put, the worker wouldn't have anything to do anyways. If he moves away, I'll go back to the worker and it won't hurt to have hammers invested in a warrior for an emergency.
