[SPOILER] Waterbat spends '104 Days of Summer Vacation'

I kind of hope that IND falls to us. Although I probably don't need another reason to wonder-whore.

IND / -FIN -EXP leaders:

Caesar IMP
DeGaulle CHR
LouisXIV CRE
QinShi PRO
Rameses SPI
Roosevelt ORG
Stalin AGG

I see that the wrap is torroidal - Is maintenance going to be enough that we want Roosevelt for ORG?

Also - where there major changes between 3.17 and 3.19? I found this package of reference documents on CFC:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads....le&id=2499

but they are updated for 3.17 only.

Couldn't remember much other then I believe 3.19 was when they nerfed the wall overflow and using arty from ships iirc. Going through the change log doesn't seem like anything major that should throw off the reference charts .

Out of those leaders I'd probably go for Loius. If we end up going Phi and not getting Gandhi, I like Pericles. I just really find CRE convenient, especially pre CS half price libraries are too nice when going SE.

Either I've missed it or the difficulty the map is made on hasn't been posted. I don't think it'll be too bad though especially with this being a game designed for us greens lol

I'm bored so I'll throw in my thoughts on NAPs. Enforced NAPs just seems dumb and we'll see how this plays out. I see plenty of games where people get annoyed by another player's action and consider a NAP void. So one side thinks there is a NAP the other side doesn't. What happens in this game if such a situation occurs and people try rules lawyering. Sounds like a headache waiting to happen.

Rolling NAPs have also been mentioned. Don't do them. Unless ahead by a fair bit or a matter of life and death. Too hard to get out of. I'm not a huge fan of NAPs to begin with. However seeing as we both tend to neglect military far too much, we'll probably find them very useful. Just have to avoid getting locked into anything too long term and being ready to fight if need be come renewal time.

so... the IND route is available. I'd like to take it. It looks like we are up against 2 CRE and 2 AGG. So... I fear that we get either get cramped by neighboring CRE or choked by neighboring AGG.

I am starting to like your suggestion of Louis then - the CRE for a bit of bonus city defense against AGG as well as to keep pace in any border/cultural conflicts.

Also, if we go IND (and Louis), we will be the only civ without EXP or FIN. I don't mind being without EXP - as we probably will need less workers overall, the 25% prod bonus on them will be less effective. Oh - we can't go FIN/EXP anyway due to the rules smile

Here's the breakdown:
Code:
superjm        Willem Orange    ???          CRE/FIN
waterbat    India        ???
archduke    Survayarman II    Byzantium    CRE/EXP
azza         Egypt        Isabella    SPI/EXP
xenon         Shaka        Ottoman        AGG/EXP
catwalk        Ragnar        Rome        AGG/FIN
Ok - so Louis it is. We'll grab what we can and hang on for the ride.

You just posted as I was writing up a post lol Anyways we are the only IND which is good. It'd be better if we weren't a Ragnar of Rome magnet though. We should lean towards hill cities if possible. I will play around in a few custom games to get a feel for what our defensive options are around turn 50-60ish. I suspect it'll be along the lines of trying to delay till we have cats.

On the wonder front, if Rome leaves us alone well the two obvious plays are to go for the mids or hoping to oracle MC. Both have become a bit secondary to not getting over run by Praets though.

That pick just seems quite strong with the restrictions in place and AI diplomacy. I'm assuming AI diplomacy means we can't really work too well with other teams to bog down Rome early.

Yes, I don't envy being neighbors to Ragnar of Rome.

I don't understand the use of the mids really. Is it just to get access to Rep. or HRule? Once in those civics, you become overpowered?

I understand the motivation to oracle MC. Because of our fast forges, this seems like a solid plan.

K, Do you want to be added to the tracker so you get all the saves? If so, you can PM Sian your email addy.

GE points, Rep is really strong. You said something about going SE. PHI is more like a burst of tech, IND still works and in the long run could be better without tech trading. Even then I don't really advocate going all out any strategy. Rep Scientists are much better then non river cottages though.
