[spoiler] Which Color for my Theme?

This is where you'll get my macro analysis of everyone else's civ and leader selections. Except that I am not doing one. Just yet. Or ever. Not sure.

I am planning to run a small empire and high tech rate to start with. First city will pick up the strategic resources. Second one will probable grab the two sheep on a hill location.

One big question is ... should all of my cities go on hills? It makes them harder to kill but ... I am planning for using advanced units to counter any invasion ... so ... maybe I will just tough it out and put them where I want to.

Here is a dot map. I've labeled the first round of expansion (1 to 4) - also color coded white. #2 might go 1 tile north to try for the marble and gold.

The Yellow city (and the Orange ones) are pipe dreams. They need everyone else to peel off and race for the non-jungle river vortex.

The purple ones are stone grabs for building the pyramids. I don't think that I can realistically hold them. Will have to see how the game panes out.

A few turns in ... not much to report. Warrior is on the greenish track from about (currently on the hill near the twin peaks), Wheel will finish next turn and worker 3 turns later.

Only Oxy score has changed (from 40 to 46) ... tech, cheaper than the wheel, probably mining.

Just simmed out a double worker start. Leaves me at T15 with two workers, farmed wheat, cottage on FB ... but only 1 population point.
So ... warrior and city growth after first worker and then a second worker it is.

Hmm - it seems that everyone else has at least one dedicated lurker ... except me ... sniff. What ... did I select the wrong color theme? Traits? Do I have a boring macro game plan?

Well - to (somewhat) address the last one of those ... I was thinking along these lines over the week end ...

What if I can land the Mids, Stonehenge and Great Wall in three separate cities. These all benefit from stone and I throw away a city on stone (ie settler and some road worker actions) just at the right time to multiple my forest chops. Teching Maths would also be a bright idea. I'm going to rough together a game plan for those three wonders over the next week.

Oh ... and I will be reconsidering my settle where-ever plan now that Mardoc has joined the game. I have fought him before and know that I will need every advantage that I can get.

First off, this guy was really lucky to survive his encounter with a panther. One stubbed toe over the next few turns and it is good-bye warrior. He only needs to last 4 more turns to met the 4th player (Commodore).



Secondly, I like it when you can get things like this coming together ...



Next turn, I start on my first settler.

I think that three of us are on exactly the same micro plan. I should jump ahead next turn in GNP with my first cottage finishing.



The only one off the one true path is Commodore. Maybe he started with fishing and went work boat first.

I've almost found the fourth player. I guess they all select better colors than I did - you can actually see their colors - not so much mine. That said, it isn't as bad as Byzantium.
