Sounds good to me. Aotearoa it is for my first expansion. Are there any particular cities/towns/hamlets you have a fondness for? Feel free to provide as many or as few as you like since it'll be churning out a lot of units over the years. Otherwise, i'll go with the ones I can think of off the top of my head before reluctantly utilising google. I am ashamed to admit that after spending a couple of minutes thinking I could only think of five which is a shambolic attempt of which I am mildly ashamed.

In New Zealand?

Sticking with Maori, Waikato, Rotorua, Putaruru, Whangarei, Kuaotunu, Pukekohe, Kapiti, Papatoetoe, Tamaki, Manakau, Waihi, Matamata, and that should be enough to get you started with.

That should definitely get me started! Thank you.

Not a great deal has happened so far. Sian got a supercharged start it seems. He's size 2 and has 12 food. His worker would not have had time to improve 2 tiles. Come to think of it, it should not have had time to improve ANY tiles unless he get his worker completed faster than me. He's Darius so I assume his capital is founded on a food enhancing resource. Not really ideal considering his late game is the strongest already. I will need to make the saved fast worker turns count. I get my second fast worker shortly and chop out a settler. I suppose I am in slavery already too so there's another turn saved there.

Civics will be key for me this game if I am to come out ahead. I'm Asoka so I suppose that is obvious but I intend to try and leverage both the workers and the civics as much as possible. Should be a good test on my micro skills so even if I lose, I will hopefully be a better player at the end.

My warrior found gingereagle. I have decided not to camp any tiles or get aggressive. Maybe he'll take this as a friendly gesture. Let's not get carried away though, my nature is my nature after all. Plenty of chance to be needlessly over-aggressive later! (Note: This is my learning from previous games. I've maybe been a bit too gung ho at declaring war).

Not much to report. Sian's capital is size 4 already whilst mine grew to size 2 at end of turn. I do have two workers though so we'll see if it was worth getting two so early.

Warrior has found a lot of lush land. From what I can see so far, the map looks great. Nice work Qgqqqqq!

I owe you guys some pictures so here we are.

The capital. Plan is to whip out this settler.

My second city. It secures copper and horses, has it's own independent significant food tile (grass sheep) and it shares the pigs from the capital. I'm happy with it. It will utilise the capital's pigs to grow, finish it's monument and then build a worker whilst the borders pop.

I think this city might appear weak at first but it gets the wet rice and it allows sharing of some early riverside grass cottages with the capital. Maintenance is a bitch with the settings chosen so this is my nod to that I suppose.

So, you may remember when I said I was going to be less aggressive this game?

My warrior had no intent on attacking or camping any tiles etc. but that settler seems awfully unguarded. I decided to move back west a tile. Worst case I lose a couple of turns of scouting and possibly a modicum of ire from Sian.

Open the new save to find this

I thought about this for awhile but no matter how hard I try, I cannot think of a scenario where not taking out his third city/second settler is a good thing for me. Sian is likely the favourite to win this game and an early settler loss can be devastating. Down side is that he may swear a blood feud. If he does, I will just have to deal with that further down the line.

There was only one action I was ever going to take in this scenario. His settler is dead and I have a new fast worker, which with no barbarians, has a very good chance of actually making it home.

I plant my third city next turn and could do with a name for it. I am naming cities after countries (in their native tongue). New Zealand and Germany are gone and Great Britain will be my 4th. Does anyone wish to claim their home country?

I named the city "Italia" but future city names are up for grabs if anyone would like to suggest one.

I think I am in quite a strong position in this game. Obviously I cannot see how others are doing but I do know that at turn 37 I have 3 cities and my fourth will be founded in two turns time. Gingereagle currently only has his capital and Sian has one other city (after we kidnapped his third). I have not met Bob so I cannot tell his situation. All three of my cities have a few improved tiles with two cottages being worked currently. I have both horses and copper. My newest city (the 4th) will have it's corn improved on the turn it is founded and gems will come online shortly after. I have 6 fast workers so keeping up with improvements has been easy thus far. My research is slow, but that will improve as my cities grow onto cottages.

The plan is to land Buddhism (which I'm currently researching) then tech priesthood and writing. I will chop out Oracle with my fast workers the turn that writing is finished with the intention of taking Code of Laws. Organised Courthouses should negate the astronomical costs of Emperor difficulty on a toroidal map. If I can complete this plan, I should be in very good shape. I have nearly completed circumnavigating the globe although the benefit of this seems really minimal as there are no significant seas as such.

The countless Norwegians on this site will probably want their due, but I'm taking city 5 : France
