Yeah, I felt the gradation as I was reading.lol

Actually the first thing that I did said was that I heard you guys are the best wink

Welcome to RB! Where are you from?

As for your main question of whether it's safe to leave your car on the street, I think you will find that it is. If you can't sleep at night worried that the bad combat odds last turn were because of cheating, then PBEMs might not be for you regardless. Personally, I'd never be concerned in a game here that bad odds going against me was caused by cheating. As for your examples, haven't you ever (in any game you've played, including AI games) "caught" yourself or the AI cheating with combat odds? :neenernee And by that I mean getting a much better outcome in a string of battles than you should have. I would personally prefer a much deterministic system, but by and large Civ4 is deterministic enough that this doesn't bother me too much.

I've played one PBEM so far, am in my second one now and have also joined a PB game. If you don't run into problems with players dropping out, PBEM can have a very nice turn pace (averaging 2t/day in PBEM29g with 4 players). The main appeal to me of PB games are that you can have a much larger player count, for a smaller player count I find PBEM much more enjoyable.

Hello,

I've been playing Civ4 for only a couple of months now. I've also been reading (learning) a lot on Sullla's website which is, by the way, very entertaining.

Through Sullla's website I've obviously learned about this community and Civ4-games. I know that these games are already finished but I still like to play them and check afterwards in the results to see where I ended up against the other members.

Of course, I started with the gentle adventures. But, when I try to start up Adventure 8, I encounter a message saying "The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been saved". When I click OK, I get an error message "Load failed".

Can I anyone inform me on what I should do to get this adventure up and running? I would appreciate this a lot!

I should also mention that because of this message I've already re-installed my copy of Civ4 Complete because earlier I tried to install some mods and I was wondering of these perhaps triggered the error.

Could this be caused by the different versions of the save file (1.61) and the Civ4 game (1.74)?

Oh and one more thing, thx for creating such exciting game-concepts for Civ!

Hi Cosmic, thanks for joining.

I'm not sure what to say about Adventure 8. I just went to try it myself... but got stuck on the CD check since my original Civ 4 disc is damaged. (The last patch for Beyond the Sword removed the CD check.)

I'd suggest getting BTS if you don't have it, and trying some of the more recent games for it. We've pretty much moved on to that from the vanilla game.

Well I've already been posting around here some, but I may as well go ahead and post an introductory post here as well since that seems to be somewhat the norm.

So hello! jive

I'm BRick, and I like chocolate, CIV4/BTS (been playing since soon after release, and wore out CIV 2 and CIV 3 well before that as well), making fun of other silly Americans like myself, attempting to help Commodore as a lurker but not generating too much content of my own, building computers, write long random strings in introductory posts to hopefully pass on some entertainment, Using more smilies than is really necessary, reading the FFH2 manual to not be hopelessly lost whenever I read a FFH PBEM game thread, rifle drafts, beef jerky, getting introduced to this site first through reading Sulla reports (surprise surprise), ice cream, reading off rego's name as just "arrarrarrarrarr" routinely, Redditing, attempting to REX and half of the time destroying my economy, and lastly, chocolate, which is repeated again because I have a hunger for sweets right now.

Any questions? smoke

OK, i finally registered!

Played SP Civ2-4, aka "TimeSuck 2-4", heavily back in the day.
Participated in a few Civ3/Civ4 succ games at CivFanatics in 2003-2004.

One of my kids was playing Civ5 the other day and wondered why I never played it. I told him "Because its boring and I can't stand that it is not half as good as Civ4!" This discussion prompted me to search the net for opinions on Civ5 - which brought me to Sullla's page, which brought me here!

I've been lurking for a while following the pitboss 6 and 7 games. I've been sucked in by the great reporting there (really enjoy OleDavy's in PB6!) I plan on trying some MP - but I am quite lame at micro and macro. (which is the same as some other game I am trying to get away from - see avatar)

Thanks to the admins and mods that put time in here!
