You did,  and I didn't test it. Absolutely not blaming you Charriu, you're awesome.

No, I'm not and its not the players responsibility to bug test my mod.

Ok, to keep singing your praises, because yes you are:
tbh I was skeptical when you announced CtH, because I like RtR and didn't see a demand for that, and frankly I was thinking that one of the Pitboss top dogs should be in charge of mod design for our games, because they would know best. But it has unquestionably been a great success and a huge factor in reviving this community, moreso than Covid, and that is thanks to a) your good instinct in approaching the mod design in terms of basic principles and b) your huge dedication. That involves the coding, but also the willingness to engage in immense discussions and actually listen to the advice of the masses, but based on good judgement. And then I'm just amazed that with an issue like this we don't have to wait for a week for it to be resolved, potentially killing players' interest, but more on the order of a single day.

And ofc we as players should try to support your work here and not be mere consumers, and that of the 11 players present apparently none (ok maybe they had PRO), myself included, took the minimal commitment to play a game until connecting a second city is just a poor show.

Rusten, thanks for chiming in with the obvious question who else had this and for how long. Glad it's under control. I can't help to metagame this: Charriu posted in a lot of threads 6 hrs ago. vanrober's, Ruff's (who confirmed had the bug) and Mjmd's have their last update fresher, and I'm not sure if they were visited. Notably, Mr. Cairo, Elkad, and naufragar did not get a visit. Cairo and Elkad confirmedly have no second city yet, naufragar got his settler a turn after us (assuming the 2pop whip was a settler, but anything else would be super weird), so could well have founded t34, but may not have had roads in place and be due t35 only. That leaves 4 players whom I'd strongly suspect to have got a notice from charriu about the bug, including Gira who is our neighbour.
I registered rival land increases not associated with 3rd ring pops on 3 turns, for 6 (t28), 3 (t31), and 9 (t33) tiles. I can imagine only 4 cities in that numbers, so either my theory is wrong and Charriu posted about something else, or more people than I would think founded 3 land tile cities.

What do you think of the outlined buildup plan, quoted here for reference?
(September 24th, 2020, 16:47)Miguelito Wrote: ok, and here is the general plan for the next couple turns:
  • Capital proceeds to build a worker in six turns, taking back the pig after 2nd city has grown. Finishes that eot 39, just in time when horses come online, and starts a chariot. Chariot gets whipped eot 43 (down to size one) into a settler, which finishes the turn after with chops from the horse worker and the new one.
  • 2nd city just does its thing: grows on the pig, whips monument eot37. It then has to work the unimproved horse for a turn so the third worker finishes earlier; then work horse and after the third worker is there, back to the pig to regrow (capital can use the mine hammers for the chariot well). When growing back to size 2, put some hammers into a chariot to have it whippable. Working boat has no hurry as we are still waiting for the border pop
  • northern worker does not build the FP farm, but rather a road on the PH (or better on the FP SW of red dot? takes the same number of turns and is closer to purple dot). Then cow pasture, and copper mine afterwards. Would you swap those?
  • 3rd city (red dot) gets founded turn 36, grows on FP and later the cow, puts hammers into a monument* or a warrior, then switches to chariot when horses are online (this is also why the road is important). Grows eot 44, with the chariot almost finished. After that I'll feel somewhat secure. Before it's dicey - can and will Cairo found his 2nd city, connect copper, and whip an axe to send our way in that time? As of last turn he was at one city, and had not revolted to slavery. His axe would have to walk at least 5 tiles before it can attack. I think that's sufficient for us, assuming he's not on a Ragnar roleplay. Gonna watch his graphs.
*monument makes sense to get that second elephant into borders, and a whole lot of forests. The latter is important if we want the Oracle in red dot. But this will need some discussion - it would be really in Mr. Cairo's face, and I'm pretty scarred from the PB49 experience.

Thanks a lot.  bow But please stop with the praise. I can't handle that very well, never could.

Yo Charriu, you're a swell dude.

Also wanted to mention that RtR isn't dead and I would support any pitboss top dog, who wants to take up Krills mantle.

I think OH will most likely start the next RtR game in the near future.

Certainly and were I not playing here I would surely consider joining but I was surprised to find a significant number of people coming back or in drawn on the "Close to Home" concept, and even several long term RtR players pretty excited by it.

Btw, I mentioned a misclick in my t34 report which meant I had to road the PH Sof red dot instead of the FP SW which I would have preferred (I moved the covering warrior to the PH). Would I be allowed to correct this, seeing as the replay has to happen anyways? It has the potential to lead to a hidden panther attacking the warrior over the river and hilariously (for you guys) eating it together with the worker.

Specifics of bugs, and the remedies, should really be kept out of the tech thread if possible. I also gave away info by posting there instead of just asking lurkers to halt the game if necessary here. Now all affected players know that we and Ruff connected our second cities last turn. What's more, they also got to know that Elkad hasn't yet, as he is clearly out of the loop.
It's all minor and probably inconsequential in the end, but still annoying when we are playing no score to keep these things out of the open.

While we're at it - the tile counting from demos that I've been doing also has bad potential in that regard if you add pop counting and a hyperactive player who lots in after each person's turns (or just before and after a specific player that he's after). That player could log all city foundations and pop whipped, so everything people see on PBspy in score games minus the tech. Ruff in PB49 had a tendency to look on 5 times per turn (surely for good reasons, not aiming anything nefarious), but this behaviour would be visible on PBspy of course and surely scorned upon so less not actually a problem, I'm just freewheeling because I didn't get a turn tonight.
