RBPBEM FfH #1 [SPOILERS] Sareln of the Svartalfar

To PB Wrote:I offered a map-for-map trade in-game, maybe my scouting will actually benefit someone :P. I'm not going to be able to contest what Selrahc has sent against me, I'll get the details to you and Bob later when I write them up. Coincidentally, I do have a settler who is finishing just about now - what are the rules for elimination? It's a corner case I haven't had the "opportunity" to explore for some strange reason...

Sareln Wrote:What are the rules for elimination? If I have a settler and the money to pay for my troops I don't die? Or is it when I no longer have any cities? It's a corner case I haven't really explored that thoroughly for some reason :P.

In the standard game, you lose when your last city is gone. Having a settler does not keep you alive. (In Civ 3, it did.) Unless "Require Complete Kills" was checked as a game option, in which case having any unit keeps you alive.

I don't know if FFH changes anything.

I don't think it does, which limits what I can do fleeing wise. Just checked, and we're not playing with require complete kills. So I'm probably done-for then but lets see if I can come up with anything. alright.

Thank you for your fighting spirit even in the face of unpleasant odds. Please don't make it easy on your opponent.

If you choose to fight, make him pay in blood for every inch of the ground, if you choose to flee, remember that revenge is a dish best served cold, with a dash of basil. wink

Hehe - well, the rules are making it tough to flee, I guess it depends upon how cautiously he approaches the capital. I'm going to have to flee north east, since there is not enough time to flee southeast before he reaches the capital and therefore ends me.

"PB Wrote:Hello Sareln,

I'm afraid I've had to reject the map offer, but I both appreciate and thank you for the intentions behind the gesture. My reasoning behind this, is that the world seems to have become a much more dangerous place all of a sudden. Any information on my capital location and surrounding terrain has become of huge strategic importance to me. I'm sure you wouldn't deliberately or willingly tell any other player, but I can't rule out the possibility that you could end up with no choice in the matter.

Regarding game rules, I'm not entirely sure, but I suspect that having no city will eliminate a player.

Kind Regards,

Aw, Pocketbeetle, can't you grant a man his last dying wish here? lol I understand where he's coming from though, for all he knows this is a gambit by me to know where he is to sell him out to Selrahc! Paranoia was never a horrible thing in MP FFAs...

Bob Wrote:Hello,

Well I don't think that we have two city elim or anything like that enabled. You should be able to double-check with F10. As for what direction for you to flee, I unfortunately can't speak much to that, as I have no map knowledge of your area save for a little bit of the jungle between us. The elves actually can build improvements on jungle like they can forests, but the lack of food will be painful. Is there any sanctuary to be found in your north? With FoL even tundra forests are entirely usable tiles.

Also, what does he have in his stack?

We'll see how far we get, I'll basically have to plant early given the whole move-summon-move trick one can pull with the magic system.
