I would imagine from his POV he can't make any further gains and he wants no pressure on Seoul. Makes sense. It kinda spells trouble for us, if he decides to change the direction of expansion westwards, but let's hope he doesn't.
Also, think should pick up after Drama and Poetry, we can chop a bunch of acropoleis, especially in places like Helice, Mercury Dot and the Mountain Dot. With that culture boost, even if we just hold against Oledavy, things ain't bad.
Also, the first merchant is shit, so a bit of luck there. We may want the engi though.
I retreated the hoplite and offered up the archer in the forest to his horse to kill it on the counterattack if he comes.
Basically this war is over offensively, I imagine another horseman and an archer or a swordsman and an archer have to be incoming from the Seoul front judging from milpower and the pillaged campus.
I offered Singaboy to trade me iron so I can stay in this perhaps with my own swordsman.
We still need to try the offensive plan -- simply because it's the last chance we get to use these units before falling back and turning. It may well be that we have to reveal the attack, see that it's not possible to push and fall back, but we still should do it -- just to press him and make sure we are not missing any opportunities.
The general is visible to him, alas, but then three archers are pretty telling by themselves. Has he also got Bastions, looking at that boosted city strength? Bastid. Well, let's see his response, pretty sure that spotting the general he will turtle everything to Lafayette. Unless he manages to talk himself into the general placement being a massive bluff.
It has been a long time coming. Singaboy signals his passive support, better then nothing I guess, I take the gesture.
Ladies and Gentleman, we are attacking, for real this time, no aggressive scouting like last time, we are definetly risking a unit now, but so will he if my analysis is correct. Over the River, with support, defensive and GG my horses must be rather nasty to deal with.
Added to your initial assessment, we have another horse in the south between the riverbanks. Oledavy either commits and blocks the river and risks death of units, or Lafayette could actually fall very, very quickly.
Oledavy´s northern horse is out of position, but I have to assume, if not he has been , that another swords or horseman is just around the corner. After all I am only slightly ahead in Milpower.
Reinforcements from the south are another archer and another horseman for me, that is it.
All cities are building commercial districts and will do settlers as soon as I can boost a civic.
