[54 Spoilers] Nothing to see here! Miguelito and Rusten's max score game

Sorry, for being off-topic but can you tell me how you set up your sand box, Miguelito? Do you need an ai for the game to not end?

I just tried to explain how I think this was problematic, particularly in a no score game, and how it maybe could be handled better in the future. Overblown probably, but I had an hour where I literally had nothing better to do than idling phone in hand in the dark. Lewwyn is right that my insistence not to disclose details of the bug might just make people start thinking what the interesting info is that they can get from it. Do you need an ai for the game to not end?I just start an SP game on an Archipelago with the rift settings (important are difficulty and map size), then edit in my scouting through worldbuilder. The pros also take care to have the map width and height correct for the cost calculation, but then you'll also have to manage AI contacts for KTB and it becomes a hassle, so I prefer to just give myself a tech in WB when I would get it in the real game. I've been doing tech projection through the spreadsheet which I've found convenient and is usually just a few beakers off. If you want to feel free to copy my template (link in post #2), just take care not to break the original and not have Ruff see any info from this game. I'm sure there are players on the forum who do this on a far higher level, can't imagine Noble for example could content himself with "a few beakers off"
Rusten, if you want to feel free to do the replay to get the game moving again. As I posted in the tech thread I will be able to only like 7 hrs from now.
Also I'll keep insisting for your opinion on the plan to go forward. I hope your silence is due to being sucked into RL/ the PBEM/ Wraeclast, and not some frustration or annoyance regarding this thread?
Wraeclast.
Your updates are very good. I'll spend less time on PoE as the league progresses. My silence was due to me wanting to play through the turns before commenting, but if I was to say anything immediately it would be a thumbs up and that it all sounds pretty good. Whipping chariot into size 1 settler sounds ok if it's completed immediately, and I definitely agree with a monument in the 3rd city, but we might get a settler on size 2 before we complete it*. Cows before copper sounds correct too. *I really hate these cities with high hammers and low food, they're so awkward to develop and decide what to do with early on. It needs a granary, but it can probably wait until we've farmed the flood plain and just stay size 2 until then. edit: I'll probably start logging in a bit more going forwards as things get more complicated, but I can't play the turn right now. Cows before copper sounds correct too.The settler is finished immediately with whip overflow and 2 chops, yes. If we are not stressed about Cairo the chariot can go ahead and secure purple dot for the settler to follow. Regarding 3rd city, you mean just to set it to a settler at size 2, and benefit from IMP hammers from cow and copper? Yeah makes sense (September 26th, 2020, 09:26)Rusten Wrote: edit: I'll probably start logging in a bit more going forwards as things get more complicatednice ![]() To the replay report: First, if it's of any use Charriu, here is what happened when I rolled the turn (didn't take any shots ): I got a red flashing text telling me I was out of synch. Before logging out I entered a city, and it showed 2c trade routes with the faux PRO bonus.I went out and relogged and the trade routes were displayed correctly at 1c with just 25% bonus for the capital connection. So I suppose we're good? (September 25th, 2020, 17:23)Miguelito Wrote: Btw, I mentioned a misclick in my t34 report which meant I had to road the PH Sof red dot instead of the FP SW which I would have preferred (I moved the covering warrior to the PH). Would I be allowed to correct this, seeing as the replay has to happen anyways? It has the potential to lead to a hidden panther attacking the warrior over the river and hilariously (for you guys) eating it together with the worker. As I got no response on this I decided that I am not required to repeat a misclick when no RNG is involved nor another player directly. I could even make it safe for the worker, as I could scout all relevant tiles to the east and north, so the settler is now sitting on red dot naked, while the worker is covered with two warriors ![]() particularly the forest W of the stone is confirmed empty. Looking at this, I feel pretty convinced that Cairo will choose dot 1 over 2. Less exposed, can help the cap with cottages, and 2 would not claim BFC tiles to the east with naufragar's Stonehenge in the cap. Seems good. Now, regarding the Oracle I have come to the conclusion that it must be red dot, or it will most likely not happen. Purple is too slow - it will be founded late 40s, then it needs the monument and ten turns waiting time to get significant forests into the BFC, so Oracle could maybe happen around turn... 63? Seems awfully late, but sometimes everybody avoids it for fear of coming too late. In contrast, red dot gets 10 hpt with the cow, PH, and copper mine on size 2, can start the monument way earlier, and after the border pop has virtually unlimited forests available. the huge problem is the culture - it will certainly take the first ring tiles of Cairo's dot 1, including his horse, just some 9 turns after finishing the wonder. So, is there any other way Cairo can respond to that than war? But that would be just so awful on so many levels, that I feel that this is reason enough to desist from it here and limit ourselves to a far longshot at durple dot. Thoughts on this?
I'll ponder the Oracle for a bit and get back to you.
Quote:As I got no response on this I decided that I am not required to repeat a misclick when no RNG is involved nor another player directly. Missed it with everything that was going on. As long as it was a genuine misclick and you didn't do it because of gaining new information I see no problem in correcting your mistake. Quote:Regarding 3rd city, you mean just to set it to a settler at size 2, and benefit from IMP hammers from cow and copper? Yeah makes sense Yes, makes the most sense in general. I'll have to check to see what the situation is like at the time. Quote:Good to hear that. I can perfectly understand, been there. Care to share a link to your char? I have no idea whats en vogue these days... Sure, I'm playing frost bolt+ice nova inquisitor. Still got some low-grade items, but Pledge of Hands is the most important piece and I picked up a timeless jewel for Corrupted Soul earlier today as well. Character is VarietiesOfExile, but the link should forward you to it immediately.
Founded the third city, Akritai (for the theme, I'm going by this. But I welcome your suggestions!). Founded the city and then built the road afterwards like the noob I am
. If we ever again miss a tech by a single beaker, here's where we lost it. ![]() I'm sending one warrior to the forest NW of copper to look out for perfidious Englishmen. Here's something that isn't working as I imagined: ![]() We have no city trading set, as well as the option to unlock the city counter on the scoreboard together with graphs. The latter is working, but apparently you can still see cities in the trade screen, defeating the whole thing. I had understood that with no city trades the cities would disappear from this list? Charriu, is this working as intended or did I find a bug and can get a cookie? This way I can also confirm that nauf is the only neighbour to have founded a second city (and he hadn't at the beginning of t35. He played a double 35/36 turn so no way to know). Gira hasn't, but revolted to slavery on t35, so the settler is likely on the move rn, and Elkad and Cairo neither, and they also haven't revolted. Rival land increased by 14, coinciding with naufragar's capital border pop from Stonehenge, and him founding his second city. The third ring of the cap had a lot of water included, possibly the 14 tiles include a further second city by somebody. Also been thinking, while I'm hesitant with the Oracle there for the stated reasons, Akritai is actually a prime Mids location, and at that point the 6 culture should be sufferable for Cairo (I just don't want to pressure his city's first ring, of course it's fine if we have strong culture in the area) (September 26th, 2020, 17:08)Rusten Wrote: I'm playing frost bolt+ice nova inquisitor. Possibly the strongest character I've built (besides the explosive arrow raider I stumbled into in Metamorph, gutted in the patch after). The best one died at lvl 87 when she opened a strongbox and laid down the vortex by inertia. Porcupines . Also lvl 92 already, I've played several leagues for three months and in few have gotten further (referring to when playing SC). But that goes to show probably how really slow I play this game, like a map in 20min, but whatever, I enjoy it. I know your progress is not considered anything crazy, congrats anyways .
I logged in before I read your report and noticed the missing trade route, good that you're being honest about it.
![]() Quote:Akritai is actually a prime Mids location Yeah, let's do Pyramids instead. We have stone, and possibly OR too. I logged in and added a sign for a (IMO) better city location. The southern one should just go on the furs and not south of it. We'll never work unforested tundra furs anyway and it adds a million land tiles. Quote:The best one died at lvl 87 when she opened a strongbox and laid down the vortex by inertia. Porcupines Exact same thing happened to my best HC character a few leagues back. A phys-to-fire BV chieftain.
