Long time no post for me, mainly because I spoilered myself (should have found the rules for ded. lurking first, d'oh). Looks good so far, nice to have a second city and religion. Keep it up!

Thanks for stopping by, anyway! I kinda figured you were spoilered once you refused to comment on the map layout But it's always nice to know our posts are being read by someone.

Quick turn tonight, boosted research on Writing as discussed, moved the warriors, and that was it (scout and workers were already planned)

Played t29. Only real thing to do was give our second worker an order. He's building the road to connect our cities, worth 2c from trade routes, increased movement and religion spread, and resource connections (gems in the capital).

Sounds good. After we get Writing, we ought to start considering roading to the rails and opening borders with someone for an additional boost, both to the trade routes and to eventually taking over the world for Hinduism

t30 came in late today, about noon GMT, right after I'd woken up this morning. Noticed that plako, Amelia, luddite, and Tatan all have second cities as well - looks like we're not the only ones to decide this is a REX map
A nice friendly message came in from luddite, not much info, so I responded without much info as well.

Played t32. No choices except research. I tentatively started Math, but at 0%.

GES let us know that there are horses just south of the wheat tile in our second city. Awesome! Our worker in the area has was due to start cottaging that tile 6 turns from now, so we should probably switch to Animal Husbandry (at 100%) immediately. We'll have it in 4, and can start on the pasture soon after.
He also pointed out that Plako built the Oracle. Turn 32, pretty early! He must have built it in the capital while growing, in place of warriors/granaries. It only delayed his second city by a bit, so nice job there. He probably took Metal Casting. Since he is philosophical in addition to imperialistic, he'll get his great prophet in 17 turns. Wonder what he will do with that?

Switching to Animal Husbandry makes sense to me; we'll need it by the time we settle the pigs site as well, plus the advantage of boosting Blackwood and opening options for later. I think it might be worth sneaking in Hunting now, though, to improve our prereq bonus on AH, since we'll want it for the deer, furs, and spears eventually. We ought to be able to keep the worker busy with the silver, right?
We really ought to spend some time on longer-term plans instead of our current reacting. Tonight I'll take some time to think about and propose a plan for a tech path and dotmap. I'm treating this as essentially a first draft, but I generally find it's a lot easier to talk about a proposal than to come up with one from scratch.
I am assuming that our focus will be almost entirely on peaceful expansion for the moment; it might be worth picking up military techs, but not yet worth building any serious military. We don't want to attack anyone, and we're pretty sure no one wants to attack us.

Ok, definitely time to work on longer-term plans; ended up needing to chat with SevenSpirits to make sure we were on the same page for this turn, let alone future plans. So the next post will be our current view of the land, and my first stab at a dotmap. We've got a day or two to decide on city 3, but realistically I'd be happier if we could figure out most of the dotmap so that city 3 is in a good spot.
We decided on Hunting -> Animal Husbandry as our tech path, mostly because Hunting is only 2 turns, and the prereq bonus from it cuts AH from 4 turns to 3, so it's essentially only costing us one turn to nab Hunting along the way. Worker started a cottage, and we started our second settler in Alert; next turn we ought to be able to whip it to get city # 3 started . The library goes back on hold for the moment to be continued when we start regrowing.
After the settler, we'll definitely need at least one more worker, if not two. Our settler/worker ratio is aggressive, and probably only justifiable due to Imperialistic. In addition to improving the lands around city 3, we've got a trade route to build, and possibly also a connection to the rails, in addition to forest chops,
For future tech, I do think Mathematics makes the most sense. After that, I'm not sure; I think tentatively that Alphabet -> Currency -> Construction -> Calender makes sense. That would be an early Currency with both prereqs to help us along, then Construction for Hwacha as an option, then Calender because that's probably about when we'll make it to the incense and dyes on the railroads. This approach would sacrifice any chance we'd have at any of the wonders, though. The only wonder that really tempts me at the moment is the Colossus, but I wouldn't be surprised if plako's going for it after the Oracle.
I'm sticking the current maps in here for your consideration; I'll take a stab at a dotmap in my next post.
