T40 played. The turn started with Darrell sending us an empty diplo window - don't know what that was about. Both Darrell and Shoot have 3 cities.
Exploration:
Back home:
Capital will whip a settler next turn, and unless the final fogged tile by the gold in the west reveals seafood, the settler will move to the "c" NW of the cows. That city should be founded on T43.
Investment will take all the food next turn, (when Capital is size 2 and finishing a settler) and put 1 hammer into a galley and grow. Then, on T42 it will switch back to hammers and a settler while Capital grows from size 2 to 3 using both grain resources. On T43 it will whip its settler which will found our Moai city on T45. All the stored food will let Investment grow back from size 2 to 3 while finishing the settler.
Top five cities:
And demographics. At least our GNP has been fixed (although inflated by culture as well), crop yield is still less than impressive.
I have to run.

Why thank you. (Not for the spam accusation, though... )

They've gone even more minimalist with communication.

Thank you!
<insert wooden lighthouse joke here>

Or, in order of workable tiles:
15 tiles: 4-3-3-1
12 tiles: 5-3-1
12 tiles: 4-3-2
11 tiles: 4-2-2
11 tiles: 4-3-1 (us)
OK, this is getting out of hand, but these combinations match up to an average of 64.25k:
3-3-3-1 (64k)
3-3-2 (48k)
4-3-2 (75k)
4-3-1 (70k)
There's a size 3 non-capital on the top 5 cities list though, so something's not quite right. Anyway I think (hope) that there are still just 13 rival cities in the world and that those are their sizes. I'm just trying to get an idea of how far we're behind expansion-wise.
I have to run.

Well we knew getting the Great Lighthouse would set us back a little. But now we're Expansive, Creative and faux Financial! Well, as long as we can get open borders we are.
And you're doing a lot of C&D for us not doing C&D.

Quote:Straight talk is good. We also prefer peace. We haven't met anyone yet. Thanks for the info on Shoot, we'll share similar info if we acquire it. We have also seen land bridges. If you haven't noticed, we founded Hinduism. What will you give us to sign open borders?
Darrell
P.S. Really, straight talk is good, and we'll keep it up as long as you do.
Suggest we reply that the following things are on the table and ask for their price: - Goodwill, i.e. future favour
- Maps
- Peace
- Preferred religion status
- Gold (future)
- Resource trades, if applicable

Wow, two settlers on the go - good to see. We'll be short of workers again soon!

And the verbose reply (with due apology):
Quote:Having been a GL owner that was forced to negotiate OB agreements, I have some idea for the market :-). We like the idea of religion priority quite a bit, since we do plan on building the shrine. We suggest the following:
1. Hinduism will be spread to all Straight Talker cities. Egypt will contribute in this endeavor by providing one missionary for every four built by the Straight Talkers. Egypt will contribute the first missionary to get this process started.
2. Egypt and Straight Talkers will sign open borders. To prevent Egypt from joining in an embargo, open borders should be for an extended period of time, say 50 turns. In addition, Straight Talkers will be given an auto-renew option. If this option is exercised, Straight Talkers agree to balance out commerce income with a gold exchange. Egypt can conditionally waive the gold exchange requirement for renewal, at their discretion, either as a token of friendship or in exchange for other considerations to be agreed upon at the time of renewal.
3. Straight Talkers acknowledge Egypt's right of ownership for a city on a strip of Jungle east our core. The city will only be 6 tiles from our capital, however we do not wish to unnecessarily provoke Straight Talkers over a city that might be connected to their main continent (we cannot tell even with satellite mode zooming). Should the sad day come when our differences lead to conflict, we agree no offensive shall be launched from this city location.
4. To further prove our goodwill, we will also give Straight Talkers the first opportunity to trade one of their spare happiness resources for our spare Incense resource (once we have it available for trade).
Egypt humbly apologizes for the lawyer talk in this message. We prefer straight talk, but sometimes lawyer talk is necessary.
