Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Astronaut without sin confounds press, invites trio to control civilization

SevenSpirits Wrote:Here's something I still don't get: how did mackoti get copper up so quickly, on a desert hill (4t build plus maybe moving onto it), with one worker? He got BW EOT20 and the city EOT22 so must have started the mine BEFOREHAND.

Only explanation I can think of: his warrior found Fierce to his SE, who researched BW t14. Therefore mackoti could see that Fierce's copper was on the desert hill, and decided to mine his own. This might also partially explain Fierce's high power.

Or he's even better than you at C&D. smile

It's possible. smile The slight MFG bump does show up in demos (by changing your rank, not by shifting the average) but I don't think it's possible to rule out other things that could have had the same effect. (We didn't even know Fierce settled on the desert hill for example, though I'm fairly sure now.) I also don't think mackoti does much C&D.

Sandbox updated with the turn played, copper added to the desert hill, and contact given with two civs that know mining + bronze working (which will give a 10% bonus on each).

Tried a couple runs. Copper doesn't really affect the t39 stonehenge; we still have to chop 2 forests. (Edit: though if we skip the warrior after granary it just needs 1.) It does allow the possibility of t38 stonehenge but (due to the jungle growth) this requires delaying our settler for Io to use 5 workers to do 2 chops, and seems generally like a terrible plan.

YNL finally founded their second city this turn.

Total rival population is 19.2 * 5 = 96. Rival max is 48, so that's the size 4 city in top 5 cities. Rival min is 7, so that's cities size 2 and 1. There's also a size 3 city in top 5 cities, so of the remaining 41, 21 pop belongs to that city. The remaining 20 pop is spread on three players (including the one with a size 3 city), so 1+7+12 is the only feasible fit. (EDIT: 6+7+7 is also possible, in which case player C has cities size 2+1, and player B has cities size 3+2.) That means our rivals have the following city sizes:

Mackoti: Athens (2), Sparta (1)
YNL: City (2), City (1)
A: City (4)
B: City (3), City (1)
C: City (2), City (2)

We have Titan (5) and Ganymede (1).

Cool.

Fierce is definitely the 4, we can see from Top Cities. I think Sian is 3/2 as I recorded him growing to 3/1 earlier and he gained 4 (well, 10) points this turn. That gives:

Mackoti: Athens (2), Sparta (1)
YNL: City (2), Thessalonica (1)
Fierce: City (4)
Sian: City (3), City (2)
Luddicator: City (2), City (1)
Us: Titan (5), Ganymede (1)

Sian and YNL got a tech. Rival power up 2k, that's either a warrior or 2k for one of the techs.

Here's a playthrough I kind of liked. I skipped the warrior in Ganymede and just started right on henge. Of course this is worse if someone else builds it in the intervening time.

Hammers invested each turn in henge starting t31: 2, 5, 5, 2, 5, 7, 0, 0, 32 + 13 + 10. (Total 81.)
