scooter Wrote:So to sum up this big stream-of-consciousness post - the gist of it is that when your strength is diplomacy and that's what's kept you as a contender to win, it's rough when you have replacements, because you have to start all over at square 0 with the new players. Sandover has been at square 0 all game with everyone, so with a new player it's just an opportunity for him to profit on a player who hasn't been around long enough to have a history with him.

Now that's a kick in the nuts!lol

I hope you like my new signature, because it's staying.

You know it's true though wink. Seriously, nothing made the game feel like a sham quite like Amelia vassalizing to you.

Nice out-of-context quote lol.

I'd like to believe I was at square 2 or so with some people at least temporarily.rolleye

Vassalization isn't a good word in that context. It was a mutually beneficial peace deal (kinda "duh" since none of us was benefiting from the war) and nothing more. Comments like that makes me think you haven't even read my thread yet! But yes, you could've worked that a bit better. I could've worked that a lot better to be honest because I spent most of the time I could've pursued a peace deal stealing workers and sending taunting emails.smile

Also, I'm officially done reading this thread. It got a bit boring in the end for obvious reason, and it definitly lacked screen shots overall, but it was an enjoyable read nevertheless.

One more thing. I do think it is a shame that we never got to see the end at the Khmer theatre, especially as I was 90% sure about going full mobilization for the first time in the game once I reached tanks and really throw everything I could at you. Bottom line, however, is that I don't regret ending the game prematurely as it was turning into quite a drag to say the least.

Look at the context of that quote though. It was in the context that I had becomes friends with just about everyone left at that point and you had become enemies with just about everyone by that point. The context is important with that quote - it was just a figure of speech to make the point that when Amelia took over, you had zero working relationship with Bobchillingworth, and I had a huge working relationship with him. Which leads to:

I think you underestimate how close I was with Bobchillingworth all game long - as we had many chats that I never posted in this thread. When he found out you were going to invade him that one time - I'll just say he pretty much hated your guts and was willing to do anything to see you lose lol. So it was very frustrating to see Amelia screw us all over to make a deal with you, when we knew that if Bob had continued on, that never would've happened, no matter how good a deal you offered him. After that episode happened, I more or less quit updating the thread and played on auto-pilot from there until things heated up again. That's why I made such a conscious effort to befriend GES when he joined as well, as I didn't want to get screwed for a second time.

Hope you didn't take diplo criticisms personally. I just feel that in the end, diplo management was the one thing I did really well in this game, and everything else was fairly mediocre. It was a learning experience for sure - I especially played the start pretty poorly. I felt that you were quite the opposite - you played your start darn near perfectly, and managed to piss everyone else off in the process lol.

I know the context. It was so obvious that you was right in your reasoning that I didn't bother to relate to the context at all in my response.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I do based on what you just said.

Not in the slightest. I never made an effort to be "good" at diplomacy. I just wanted to be me and roll with the flow, and I'm glad I did because it worked out really well entertainment-wise. I do wonder what I'll find in the lurker thread ahead.

That's a correct assesment. Your location was arguably the best but you didn't make max use of it early on. I do recall wondering what you had been smoking when I first got your map.wink

There was some interesting polarity for sure.smile
