What?!? No consideration at all was given to Saladin of Germany?
That should be the obvious first pick.

Adlain Wrote:I'm wondering if you can somehow round off that top pick by building a herbalist aswell Naw, I'm going to be too busy building the Temple of Artemis [the critical wonder for my plan!]. SleepingMoogle Wrote:What?!? No consideration at all was given to Saladin of Germany? Well, obviously that was my second choice. ![]() But, unfortunately, when I went to select my leader, instead of typing "C-H-U-R-C-H-I-L-L", I typed in "S-H-A-K-A" on accident! My plan is ruined!

Sorry, guys, no reporting for at least a day or so... see Serdoa's post in the tech thread.
If you're not playing in PBEM11, you can check out my boss thread there [I <3 shameless thread plugging!]. If you ARE playing PBEM11... go away, I must plot your destruction! :soc:

Well, still no turn, so time to drone on and on about some [STRIKE]boring[/STRIKE] super-interesting SP games I've played recently.
So, I wanted some AW action, right? Only I'm an incompetent coward, so I couldn't play an online MP game or anything, and I don't feel like having every single AI in the game do one, giant dogpile against me. So I tried something really, really strange: I loaded up a typical 40 civs mod, selected a huge Pangaea map, and created two teams of 20 people, with always war on. Didn't work out so well. I don't have any pics, but it was friggin' insane, stacks of 8-10 units wandering around on every other tile and just blindly battering each other. As a human, I may have superior tactics, but it was literally friggin' IMPOSSIBLE to get anything done because of these large stacks all over the place [didn't help that most of them were 'phants]. What's more, the actual state of my economy literally made no difference due to the sheer number of civs in the game. The other team also landed a couple of good wonders early on [Great Lighthouse, Hanging Gardens, the 'Henge] due to my own team's AIs starting the wonders before I could and then building them at a glacial pace. Consequently, they were pretty significantly ahead the whole game, grabbing most of the later wonders, and there was literally zip I could do about since I couldn't manage the AI's land. Ugh, what a nightmare. I find, when one is just trying to have some warfare fun, teaming up with AIs can be pretty interesting sometimes, but I don't suggest teams of more than four. Side-note: I also just started a game on an Archipelago map, Medieval start, 7 players, and every single player managed to adopt a different religion. I kid you not. Good thing I turned on Aggressive AI! :D EDIT: Also, I just learned from an old Jowy post in the Testing forum how to make scroll-over shiny things. http://Seriously, scroll over this sentence.

Another day, another botched aggressive war ended with neither side accomplishing much...
![]() As far as I can tell, neither side even lost a city. In 10 more turns TT will definitely have enough defenses to stall an attack, and Ad Hoc seems to know this; he adopted Hereditary Rule, Bureaucracy, and Caste System [!] this turn. I find it interesting that because Ad Hoc voted for peace [maybe he WAS gassed], and Cyneheard and I both abstained, Meatbalz, with his piddly 2 votes, ended up being the sole resistance. I bet TT isn't pleased; maybe he'll even move his forces elsewhere, somewhere green. ![]() [/wishful thinking] Also, Ad Hoc popped a GOLDEN AGE, which is startling because I have not seen a Great Person born in quite some time; maybe he and TT were in negotiations? Only God [Kyan] knows. Great Engineer is due in 3 turns. I'm reaaaaally tempted to contact Serdoa about it instead of settling the GE; it's a classic case of conservative [and probably optimal] play vs. intriguing play. Optics due next turn. I'm not planning to upgrade any triremes; since my production is so much better than my GNP, I've made some room in the build queues for a fleet of Circumnavigation-seeking caravels. [Actually, I have no idea what the wrap is. I can only HOPE it is at least cylindrical.]

Wow, the updates for this game in like every thread have just stopped... time to bear the burden!
... Okay, help me figure out this puzzle: how long of an update can I write about the fact that I discovered Optics and set research to Calendar? Hey, guyz, Optics is in the bin! Only Calendar and Astro now! Perhaps a Haiku about this is in order! I ended the turn, and Calendar was researched. The save was emailed. This epic Haiku brought to you by the Coffee-House Association of America. Stay tuned, maybe next update I'll write a limerick! ![]() [/Screwing around] Okay, so remember the broad plan? -Get East Indiapeople [Napoleon is an equal opportunity employer] -Get Knights -Naval rampage! [still not sure quite how that's going to work...] Well, I've run into a problem. Teching to Guilds is going to take waaaay to long. So I'm going to go ahead and get Astro [and build/upgrade accordingly], while training Maces, slowly but steadily. When I finish Guilds/HBR, I will whip out some Knights, too; so my force will be sort of a mixture. Still not quite sure what I'm doing. Actually, I am completely clue-less as to what I am doing. I'm sure it will work out.

novice Wrote:A short-tempered fellow from Corse Novice gets a 100% A++.Alright, I'm going to have to get cracking on an epic ballad in response. I'm thinking something about Don Quixote, he has certainly fit my play so far in this game. ![]() Not too common you see a tech screen like this. Others may have a lead on me [and I'm starting to grow more and more worried by how big that lead is], but I have one marginal advantage: no one will see this coming. I mean, yeah, the Dutch player is going to go for his Galleon UU. But this early? I certainly hope no one figures it out, at least. Fortunately, no one so far has bothered to research Alphabet, and no one should have enough espionage points right now to see my research. So, uh, wish me luck? I still don't actually know who I'm attacking, of course. [Some help Napoleon's been, I'm not Organized at all! At least I'm still Charismatic, though, amIright guyz?! ]Any ideas, Adlain, if you aren't too busy resisting my inevitable victory in PBEM11? ![]() Demographics: ![]() Yeah, so long for that star-military of mine... Now, they're all just old, retired axes, drawing Social Security. Funny how, despite my atrocious demographics, I am still #1 in score. Despite the huge push for military, I'm also going to be pushing Scientists [and hopefully some Observatories, too], but man... GNP=sad panda.
