Does this affect SP games as well, or just MP?
If SP games are not affected, did you try loading the GMR save as a SP game?
If nothing works, we can try to ask chumchu to play your turn per your instructions, then hope you can open T1 save?

Also, apparently running the game with Steam in offline mode helped some people....

- It doesn't
- I tried before but it didn't work (I suppose it's the "hotseat" format that means it can't work)
- The first turn isn't as simple as you could think, but I don't mind giving instructions in my thread and see if it works.

I'm not at home so can't try, but maybe someone can create a quick start 2 player pbem game to send to Adrien to see if even that would load.

That would be helpful yes. If it doesn't work then I have to either make the fix work or find a replacement

I completely understand this, mostly I'm just suggesting options unfortunately I was unable to find many options we didn't try yet

Problem with creating a PBEM is that we won't be able to convert this game to PBEM if we want to play a custom map, as discussed earlier in the thread custom map games can be run only as a scenario, and Civ5 PBEM doesn't support scenarios

So, I think you tried all of these, but just checking...
Did you try running the game with Steam Cloud disabled?
Did you try running the game with Steam in offline mode?
Did you manage to go through the fix you tried last night?

I can create a PBEM save if you think it would be useful...

I can try the first two in half an hour (after the CL games are over), but if that was a fix they'd have mentioned it in the thread where I found the convoluted fix.
