Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

I don't think there's a need to ask. There's a NAP offer on the table. I think you're worrying a bit too much. No way they break a NAP on first contact and sabotage relationships permanently just to screw with our micro plan.

Eliminating one of your strongest opponents with a single warrior would be an incredible plus for them. If they break a NAP, aside from RB who have no contact with other teams, who would know? If no-one is even aware they broke a NAP then there's no repercussions.

I'd encourage the declare war / make peace plan just to be absolutely sure on this. They should have no problem with this providing their intentions aren't malicious and we explain why.

They can't eliminate us - we can 2T a warrior.

And more to the point, on T34 we will have two cities!

Ok we're taking too long IMO, a new turn has rolled. Here's a final draft making two changes Dantski suggested. I left everything else from Ruff/kjn/all as the majority seems good with it. I can send this very soon if there are no further objections:

final draft? Wrote:Team CFC:

Meeting Team CFC in this wilderness is a stroke of pure luck. We too are happy to see you so close. As you have freely volunteered contact information, we feel honour bound to return the favour. You are our first and only contact.

"harsh words" - bah, I don't remember any harsh words. Even if there were some ... they were just friendly discussions regarding game set up and are long forgotten. We are here to play a nice and fun game of Civ to the best of our ability.

We accept your offer of a NAP until turn 100 (which we take to mean the NAP expires at the beginning of turn 100). The term "NAP" is thrown around a lot in these games but rarely defined. For now, we will assume the narrowest definition: no actions which would cause war to be declared in-game (i.e., attacking units or violating borders).

We hope your warrior hasn't had too much trouble reaching us. We saw a lion on the tile one west of your warrior on turn 26, and there have been both lions and panthers prowling our borders.

Seems good to me. Ruff is probably at work for another short while where he can't read our forum - maybe send it to our diplo address and ask him to send it on?

I'm logged in to our diplo account right now so I can do it as long as there are no objections. I'll wait just another 30 minutes or so and then send it if nobody objects before then.

One possible thing on the NAP paragraph: perhaps add on a sentence saying something like "If you want a more expansive definition of NAP definitely feel free to let us know and we can discuss it" or something along those lines just to keep that open with them.

I think that since we mention "definition of NAP" it invites discussion. It's very likely they will bring it up.

Any thoughts on asking them not to scout our capital? Maybe ask this turn? I see that we have little to lose in asking. We have to move our warrior SW anyway, I think.

Send the current message. It's fine. At this game's glacial pace, we have weeks and weeks and weeks to discuss further terms.
