I just finished the second major dungeon and went to the TV station outing and met the detective whose name I've forgotten that totally isn't just a clone of L from Death Note. Only problem is I started the game in January.
I wish I liked this game more than I do, though I do like it. The structure of the game and the way it's meant to be taken one day at a time is the thing that saps my interest the most and means I have to really be in the mood for it. I'd like to know what happens in the story, but I'm 25 hours in, and I know I'm nowhere close and will have to grind through 75 more hours, and I know there's very low chance I'll be willing to do that given I've already stopped playing the game twice for long periods. I enjoy the dungeon crawling and battles, but the fact that it has to be broken up and I have to go back to The Boring Part and do that for awhile first just kills any sense of momentum for me.
It's definitely not all bad though - after all I've played this game quite a bit still. The music, visuals, animations, and overall style are absolutely second to none. It's the coolest looking game I've played in forever. I think anyone who would normally be into this kind of game and is okay with the slightly grindy nature of JRPGs like this will probably love this game to death, because it's the best One Of Those I've seen in a long time. I also noticed my 10 month old is enamored with it because of the combination of music and bright flashy colors, so that counts for something.
