[PB60] Lazteuq and Civac

We are up. I strongly advice picking Justinian as this part is more important. Either part of the combination is unlikelyto be snatched though.

Surprisingly enough, we got our combo.

I think I'll play a singleplayer CtH game in the next few days with Justinian of Maya to see how it feels.

For convenience, here are the picks copied from the main thread:
Mjmd: Augustus of India (IND/IMP)
GKC: Kublai Khan of Rome (AGG/CRE)
superdeath: Catherine of Egypt (CRE/IMP)
Amicalola: Lieu-Ye of Carthage (ORG/PRO)
Lazteuq: Justinian of Maya (SPI/IMP)
Jowy: Darius of Vikings (FIN/ORG)

Odd picks, including ours.

I definitely want to write it, but I don't have time until about 10 hours from now.
This will be the first time I write an opponent analysis, I didn't do it in previous games for whatever reason.

Yeah, especially because other people's analysis is one of my favorite things to read! I'm such a hypocrite.

OK, here's my hastily written analysis:

Mjmd: Augustus of India (IND/IMP) Starts with MYSTICISM!
He instantly snatched up those fast workers, but didn't go for Victoria. On a map this small, picking IND means he's actually hoping to land some wonders. While picking the leader, he knew that no-one else would be IND, by his order in the snake pick. Smart.
We all know that fast workers are cool, especially for chopping out those wonders. IMP should help compensate for the growth delays caused by building early wonders.
Among other things, I bet he'll go for Colossus early because Metal Casting also enables his IND-discounted forges (Assuming the map is watery enough).
He doesn't have any overtly economic traits, but he may be able to farm failgold effectively enough. With only 5 other players, farming failgold is a bit risky though. Also, he's the only other civ with Mysticism as a starting tech, so he might be our biggest religion competitor.
Back in PB51, I think Mjmd was a weaker player than me, but I think he's learned a lot more than me in the last year. Now I think he's probably better than me, and probably more dedicated too. He has no dedlurker, but I think he can run an empire just fine on his own. He might still be lacking military skills though. I think Civac and I combined can most likely out-tactic him.

GKC: Kublai Khan of Rome (AGG/CRE)
Aggressive Rome. This isn't the first time GKC has played Agg Rome, maybe not even the second!
In my experience, Agg Praet's are extremely annoying even in the late medieval period, because they are so are cost-effective. Formation praets are especially annoying.
I hope the map is big enough to give his neighbors plenty of warning. With 130 tiles/player, he might end up like AT in PB58, running into catapults and making minimal gains. Or he might get an easy kill, prematurely ending the game.
I think GKC is very tactically skilled from playing rapid lobby games and probably has developed the best fighting instincts out of all the players here.
CRE will help him up to turn 120ish, but becomes pretty useless after that. He has no other economy trait, but might not need it. I'm not sure how good he is at economy management, but probably good enough to stay on top of this field if he spends the time to plan micro.
I hope we don't start next to him, but with only 6 teams, its pretty likely.
I think GKC is a significantly better player than me. However, as we said earlier, he doesn't seem very dedicated. He also doesn't report much.

superdeath: Catherine of Egypt (CRE/IMP)
Congratulations for not picking AGG or CHM, superdeath! I think he's still dedicated to reform.
Egypt's war chariots and obelisks both become useless pretty quickly. I don't think War Chariots are very good after Turn 60ish, because spears still wreck them. I think Immortals are the better Chariot UU because they remain useful longer.
With CRE/IMP, he can rapidly expand in someone's face, like Mack/Gira did to me in PB56. Fortunately, the players should be much farther apart here, so CRE and IMP won't be quite so dominant.
I think superdeath has improved gradually over the last year and is still better than me, but worse than GKC. Definitely seems to be skilled with military stuff, but proudly neglects micro. Hopefully he just falls behind the growth curve and we eat him. Not likely though, he is difficult to digest.

Amicalola/Vanrober: Lieu-Ye of Carthage (ORG/PRO)
The double synergy is ORG allowing cheap Cothons, and then PRO improving those trade routes even more. In the words of Krill, "Numids are shit", but I think the Cothon synergy alone is a pretty cool idea. Not a very militaristic pick, and I don't think Amica is a very militaristic player. Vanrober strikes me as a bit more militaristic, which will probably help Amica not play passively. Vanrober has learned fast and might be at my skill level now. I think Amica does especially well when given a reason to report and discuss things with a dedlurker, so Vanrober will make this team stronger. I think Amica and I are at roughly equal skill levels, but I'm less dedicated and less interested in micro and C&D.

Jowy: Darius of Vikings (FIN/ORG)
I don't see any special synergy here. FIN/ORG sounds good, and probably fits with Jowy's style. Maybe he expects this to be a watery map.
I don't know where to put Jowy on the ranking. Maybe between superdeath and GKC. His reporting doesn't give me a very good feeling of his style or skill level. I think he's not very dedicated, sort of like GKC. On the other hand, he's been around forever, and probably knows some old tricks. I guess he likes economics, not war. I think he's doesn't have enough of a winning-based mindset.

So, my ranking of skills:
  1. GKC
  2. Jowy
  3. Superdeath
  4. Mjmd
  5. Amicalola
  6. Me (If I didn't have Civac's help)

Traits:
3 IMP (no surprise here...)
2 CRE
2 ORG
1 IND
1 FIN
1 PRO
1 AGG
1 SPI

The game is up. You suggested moving the scout on the gras land hill W-W of its starting position. That seems a good idea. Can you do that? Then relocate settler on the sugar and start worker if nothing of interest crops up. Research on Hunting. I would like a screenshot of demographics.

When I saw that gold with the settler, I briefly considered changing plans, but I think it's best to leave the gold for a second or third city.

Demos before settling. At this point, everyone except GKC had played.
