Oh yeah, reading back through the playthrough, I was reminded of the 5th big stroke of luck in this game: getting both astronomy and music through popping tribal huts with explorers. The astronomy snag was especially huge. Observatories, trade routes, and tech progress. I would have been way behind the Celts tech-wise without that and unable to contain their surprise naval invasion nearly as well as I was able to. I would have had to catch up teching up to frigates, and they might have had ironclads by the time I caught up to that.

Yep, these past two months have been the first time I've gotten back into playing Civ4 in about...oh, at least 5 years, and this is the first time I've done a thorough game report on RB, so it was fun to try something different.  Plus, I got to show off my personal modmod.
