The second in tech by the time I entered modern age
I considered pulling Osman and Hammurabi to modern age to get their free tech, but rejected this option. First of all I would have had no tech available for trading. But thats not the dangerous aspect, as techs could be researched fast. Dangerous was the resource situation. If I lack uranium or aluminium the resources available for trade might be gone by the time I aquired the appropriate techs. This is not that dangerous with aluminium, but uranium tends to be rare in some games. Without war options this could spoil my game. So I added a few more turns and researched alone. Computers was the natural coice asseti and research labs will give a significant boost to my research. I then opted for recycing as the variant worker rules gave serve pollution problems. It takes 3 turns for both workers to clear a flatland tile. Some cities tend to got hitten often in a row while others are spared. So masstransit was a must have.
Occasionally I got a good deal
My core in 1780 AD
and another reasonable deal
Japan got the first gpt in the game, so why not
I was up to research Fission in 1802 AD. Now its time to see what Hammurabi and Osman get as their free tech, as at least 2 techs @ monopol should be able to buy it immediately and solve possible uranium problems (I already have aluminuim thanks to my oversea colonies).
Apparently it hadn't worked. Nevetheless I got something useful out of it, as Osman miraculously got some gpt.
Fortunately I was careful with my techs as there are only 2 sources of urianium on the whole map, both under babylonian control
sell fission to Hammurabi
and buy uranium.
The spices are a remainder so that they call when the trade expires. Not necessary in this case, just out of my habit. I always add some gpt, lux or resource on my side when trading in a vital resource/lux. This way I'll have the option of renegotiation and don't end up with none accidentaly.
My laser breackthrough gave
whom I use for
to shave a turn on my victory. Looks fine in theory but was obviously bugged as there was first a faster tech pace, but it slowed down when the tech reaches completion, at least it looks so.
A few turns later I win the game.
The game was fun in the beginning. Unfortunately it lacked an interesting endgame. The AI simply can't handle research from industrial age on on Emperor.
