ARGH, I just remembered about animal pens in carnivals existing as a mechanic!!!! Better get those wolves back ASAP next turn, what a stupid waste if either of them die.

Two things: wolves only give culture using their pen; you can only connect a resource if you have the tech for it, even if you settle on it.

Xist took 1-2 Hunter casualties at Bradeline's Well judging by the power graph. Also he left. And it's still there, it didn't roll one of the completion outcomes.
Hilariously the combat 2 bear, which had previously feated on other Sidar units to get to that point, managed to offensively kill a combat 1 Sidar Hunter... on a forested hill. But it's now at 1.5/5 next to the second hunter, so its reign of terror is finally over. Also the Sidar claimed the good city site, but I think I'll get two marginal sites in between us. I have 1 more settlement than my 2 neighbours do, and the Sidar just founded one so it's really 1 full settlement ahead on that side, maybe Xist is about to place one. I showed Xist a pyre zombie, since the Bradeline's Well thing involved him putting 5 hunters on my border. Still, both borders are narrow, so I can continue to skimp on military deployment. I will be sending some reinforcement to the Sidar side, and maybe sitting on spare gold to emergency upgrade warriors to Pyre Zombies. As of turn 72, I will have my Great Library... although when I first decided to make it, I thought it had 2 free scientists, here it's 1 free scientist and +1 beaker from scientists. That's ok I guess. After the Writing beeline, which was followed by stockpiling gold until the three libraries were up, I have grabbed a belated Bronze Working and (next turn) Hunting. Then maybe I'll go for that unique Sheaim building that randomly freespawns units. My cities have been happiness capped for a while, and I don't have any real plans to fix it other than ivory with Hunting, and an edge of the map fur that can be grabbed in future by settling a fairly weak city placement on the sidar side, which will also need a border pop. Oh, and another plantation-type happiness resource which will be covered by a border pop from the ivory town. That will take me to 12 happiness in capital. Annoyingly, since I started the game under Nationhood, Sheaim apparently don't need the Training Grounds building at all? But it's not worth the anarchy turn just to switch to Religion and slowly gain another +3 happiness from Pagan temple and state religion (which is still a ways off). In a broader strategic sense, I don't want to attack either neighbour, since they're on par with me and it would likely play into the hands of the Kuriotates with their 176 GDP. I will turtle up, get that cool ashen veil stuff going on, hope I get good enough internal development progress and that there's eventually a coalition.
In terms of development, I guess Sheaim spawner special building, Ashen Veil holy city and heroes, and Mages are the main near term goals.
But also Sanitation? And grabbing a further 3 city spots. Sacrifice the Weak and Slavery combo for lategame mass troop production.
Now it's 248 as of turn 71
I have 116 at rank 3, DaveV has 13, average 102 So other players are 510 remove 248+13 from that and you have 249 left, to be split among three players Coldrain GNP graph is 50% higher than mine, Xist is 40% lower So Auroarcher's Lanun: 248 Coldrain's Sidar: 174 (extrapolated) Bing's Sheaim: 116 Kuriotates: 510 - (248+174+70+13) = 5 (nevermind, this sucks... uh...whatever Xist's Ljosalfar: 70 (extrapolated) DaveV's Svartalfar: 13
Anyway if I'm rank 3 on GDP, and the Lanun are rank 1, and Coldrain's GNP graph is higher, then the kuriotate aggression hasn't frontloaded a bunch of wealth for them.
I just noticed that Coldrain's Divided Soul had moved 3 tiles in the past turn, which in turn made me remember that the Divided Soul ability exists.
What a nightmarish raiding unit, it can move 4 tiles and half of them are flying. I am very glad he only has 1 deployed against me, and even then it has forced me to delay a city placement by several turns. |
