as I said before, I don't mind what settings there are .. I'll go with the majority .. however, no barbarians is a good idea, especially with my luck

Actually, I like to have Barbarians enabled. It provides a source of XP early in the game, and it helps keep other players "honest" by forcing them to at least invest in a basic military.
Then again, if Barbarians are voted down, maybe I'll take it up as my duty to keep everyone "honest." 
If anyone wants a partner or if another game gets going I've been reading PB/PBEM threads like they're crack lately and I'd really love to get in on one of these, so please keep me in mind if there's something available. I haven't posted/played a lot here but I'm reliable, promise.
Allright then so i'll be teamed with Whosit will I? And Gaspar will partner Nakor/Kyan etc? I'm sure there are enough people hiding in the woodwork that will appear so more people can get helpers/lurker/partners/pretend good cops and so on.
Barbarians are allways good for keeping everyone on their toes... If you don't like them then you build the Great Wall.
Again, I'd suggest giving the admin password to someone so that they can make objective lurker updates.
Well my vote is staying with no barbs, but I will still play no matter what settings get voted in.
Sounds like Whosit is with Ravus, but if anyone wants to join me as a dedicated lurker / someone to bounce ideas off they are more than welcome.

Thanks for opening up a spot for me in the game. Like many of the other players I am not averse to having someone on my team, in case someone was too late to sign up and wants to participate. As far as settings go I have no strong preferences. Regular rules sound good to me. I would like to cast my vote in favour of barbarians though, as they are a good source of experience/cities, keep players on their toes early and unless we are playing on the highest difficulties they are no real threat to the players.
I think it would be preferable to play on a map created by someone on the forums. As there is another PBEM game starting at the same time, and if the number of players is equal, perhaps we could use the same map? It should be easy to change the civs/leaders to reflect our choices, and it would save us the trouble of finding a map-maker. That is unless there is someone who would like to create a map of course.
I would be happy to create a map - but I'll also take no offence if you use the one they're preparing for the other game, or choose a more 'established' map-maker instead. You're going to be playing this for months - it's important you get the best guy for the job and not just the one who sticks his hand up first.
