Depraved Danish Debauchery - Catwalk cooking up a storm [SPOILERS]

4f ? ... settling on banana is 3f1h1c ... decent but not great ... specially not in your situation with a close enemy with brilliant choking abilities with his War chariots, which you can't fight off unless you get Spears

As mentioned in the chat, +4 is +3 from the banana and +1 from the deer which is only in range with the banana location. I'm getting hunting next, and I think I will be able to get spears in time for an invasion. I'm not really delaying spears this way, as I need Hunting first. I could have started on axes sooner, though.

Founded Buddhism this turn, Hunting next. I'm halfway considering going for Polytheism as well to get awesome culture in my capital, but I don't think I will get there in time. I want Polytheism for the path to GLib, maybe I should have just gone for that instead. While I'm the only player starting with Mysticism, I'm guessing at least one other player has researched Mysticism by now in order to land the religion that I didn't go for. It might have worked out well if I had deliberately delayed Meditation 3t in order to spook other players into not starting on Polytheism yet.

I decided to go for crazy and try to 4t rush Polytheism (with 2 extra lake tiles worked). I might not make it, but it's on my tech path anyway. In addition to the holy city bonus, I also get cheap culture from monasteries. Spearman underway in my expansion, capital finishing a fast worker this turn. If I land Hinduism, I will research Pottery next followed by Masonry and Monotheism.

do you feel militarily secure enough to chase shiny stuff which would make you even more interesting of a target than you'd arguebly allready is?

Absolutely! Spearmen are underway in both cities, and I should easily be able to get one out before I'm invaded. t25 now, if noone else researches Polytheism by EOT t26 I will be able to snag it. If someone takes it next turn I'll only have invested 29 beakers into it (out of 80), which aren't wasted since I want to go that route for Literature relatively early. Both fast workers are en route to build a camp (on ivory and deer).

As I just told Sian, I'm getting ready to go from batshit crazy to deathwish crazy. I'll be landing Polytheism next turn unless someone snatches it from under my nose, and after that I'll beeline for Judaism.

"But why Judaism you imbecile, you already have two holy cities??"

Correct, but I want to pink dot AutomatedTeller! Behold:
[Image: t26-overview.JPG]
I should be getting Monotheism on t35 unless my calculations are far off, letting me pop borders instantly. An axe will be present when settling, and I'm also sending my warrior from the expansion to escort it. This puts the expansion at risk for a few turns, so I'll be building another spearman from the capital (after the axe) to reinforce it.

Why bother with this lunacy? Mainly, to have fun. Also, if it works out and I can hold on to it for just a little bit I think I will have a very strong front against AutomatedTeller. His war chariots will have to travel through a lot of forest and hills to get to my capital, and if he doesn't pink dot me back NE of the rice within 10t of my pink dot, I will have culture on that tile. Also, the pink dot isn't bad at all. I get wet wheat that can be farmed right away, a lake tile for emergency commerce and lots of hills for awesome production.

So, is this smart? Probably not. Does it play up to my leader or civ strengths? Not so much. Will I try to do it anyway? You betcha! Here is my tech plan:
[Image: t26-tech.JPG]
Pink lines is the pink dot plan, black lines is in case I decide to regain my sanity before next turn comes back around. Completion times are very approximate, I'm probably too optimistic for all techs after Monotheism as I'll take a big hit from the pink dot.

I think the capital aversion is stronger than the religion present aversion, could be wrong though.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Would not really be all that bad should it land in the expansion, since I already get 2 culture there and have more culture built up already. And being away from my center it can exert a lot of influence over my border with kjn. Could have sworn that I read that religion present was the main tie breaker, though. Thanks for the heads up!

Code:
    for (pLoopCity = firstCity(&iLoop); pLoopCity != NULL; pLoopCity = nextCity(&iLoop))
    {
        if (!bStarting || !(pLoopCity->isHolyCity()))
        {
            iValue = 10;
            iValue += pLoopCity->getPopulation();
            iValue += GC.getGameINLINE().getSorenRandNum(GC.getDefineINT("FOUND_RELIGION_CITY_RAND"), "Found Religion");

            iValue /= (pLoopCity->getReligionCount() + 1);

            if (pLoopCity->isCapital())
            {
                iValue /= 8;
            }

            iValue = std::max(1, iValue);

            if (iValue > iBestValue)
            {
                iBestValue = iValue;
                pBestCity = pLoopCity;
            }
        }
    }

as far as i read it ... it takes all cities Population and adds 10 and a random lucky diceroll (one roll for each city) with a n^ sided dice (no clue about)... and then it divides by 1 + any modifiers ... 8 for Capital aversion and 1 for each existing religion ... and pick the highest end result)

... which means than in your current it would take the higher of

Delhi : (10 + 2 + N*1) / (1+8)
Bombay : (10 + 3 + N*2) (1+1)

the dice is heavily loaded in Bombays favour

When Monotheism comes in (if you decide to go that way) ... lets say Delhi have grown to size 4 and Bombay have grown and been whipped hence have only gotten to 3

Delhi : (10 + 4 + N*1 ) / (1 + 8)
Bombay : (10 + 3 + N*2) / (1 + 1 + 1)
Pink : (10 + 1 + N*3) / 1

heavily loaded dice for popping in Pink
