I guess Stalin is ok. Taking the opportunity to play with the aggressive trait.
If you know what I mean.

Now that we've the starting shot I would pick from these (I've also sorted them in my priority order):
1. Russia - Hunting + Mining (We won't get this - 2*philos in the game)
2. Arabia - Mystisicm+Agriculture (Cheap Madrassa is very nice building to have - Might be hard to get this too)
3. Babylon - Wheel+Agriculture (Pretty even with Persia in my book UB is in both pretty useless and both have early non-spectacular UU)
4. Persia - Hunting +Agriculture
5. America - Fishing +Agriculture
6. Korea - Mystisicm-Mining
Celts would have been ok too, but obvivously gone now.

It might be nice to have a UU that gets the Aggressive bonus.
Edit: so what about Japan?

Is Mining better than Wheel in RB mod? It lets us start mining and chopping earlier.
Commodore changed his Lincoln pick to Arabia.
I was thinking that Germany (Mining/Hunting/80h cannons and Factories at Steam Power) is an option. Russia is of course preferrable. Japan has Fishing/Wheel, not the best techs.
Fake edit: Did I just dream that the Assembly Plant was moved to Steam Power? I can't see it in the change log.

neither mining nor the wheel are changed in rbmod, I'd say their relative importance is unchanged too.
I don't think the german UB was changed, just the UU

The Wheel brings you closer to Pottery, but granaries are less important than before due to the slavery nerf, and Bronze Working is correspondingly more important, hence my hypothesis that The Wheel has been nerfed and Mining has been buffed.

you still need the wheel to hook up your copper
you are probably right though

Well the reason I say Bronze Working is more important is because of chops, not copper. Also mining itself is important for being able to build mines. This is all just theorycrafting though.

So this is current list of available nations:
- Babylon, Wheel/Agri, Garden, Bowman
- Japan, Fishing/Wheel, Pagoda, Samurai
- Persia, Hunting/Agri, Apothecary, Immortal
- Germany, Hunting/Mining, Assembly plant, Kanone (new)
- America, Agri/Fishing, Mall (new), Minuteman (new)
- Korea - Mysticism/Mining, Seowan, Hwacha
All of these are pretty lame when considering UU+UB so starting techs mean the most. Babylon+Persia have best starting techs from these. I ignored Germany in my earlier list, but it also has decent set, even if their uniques come late. I would pick from these 3. Only other nation worth trying would be America, but Fishing is pretty bad starting tech for our start.

Yeah. Thoth picked Persia so I guess we choose between Germany and Babylon. Maybe denying Babylon from one of the Protective leaders would be good. Ideally I'd like to sandbox the start before picking between Germany and Babylon. Maybe there's no practical difference from starting techs. I guess if there isn't, I prefer Germany.
