@sunrise, kuro, et al - Three reasons:

1. He already vanished during the leader pick phase.
2. One is generally speaking, excited to play a new game. When they have not shown up to claim their civ, this in not encouraging for how eager they will be to play in 100t when Seven's army of Mechs in approaching his nascent archers.
3. While I'm all for embracing new people, its not the same as if say, Krill hadn't shown up. Krill has a track record which says "I will play my turns OR I will make sure I communicate to the other people playing that I cannot, with some reasonable ETA of how long that will be the situation." If you have that track record and you don't show up, I assume the worst and the last thing I'm going to do is clamor for your replacement. But if you don't, I just think maybe its possible you're not so reliable and hence I'd rather replace you on t0 then have to deal with finding someone in 50t when the same thing happens but everyone and their brother is spoiled.

Note, I'm not saying we should replace him. I'm saying its not an unreasonable conversation for us to be having right now. I also support calls for a game admin to deal with these sorts of issues. Serdoa or sunrise would both be wholly welcomed by me.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

While I am sympathetic for Zaldax, as a relative newbie myself, I agree with Gaspar. A replacement on t0 is easier to find and has a better chance to invest said replacement in the game.

Speaking as somebody who subbed in around turn 50 in PB13, it definitely takes you a while to invest in a game when you come in that close to the start yet that far in.

To be fair Zaldax probably doesn't even know the game has started given his last login is 2 and a half days ago and this thread is newer than that. Not that that makes me any more confident he will reliably play his turn in the future.

Let's bring the conversation from the set up thread to hear.

This is aimed at Zaldax now: As players, many of us are impatient, myself included, and I'm sorry if that comes across as aggressive, dickish, or just plain mean. I can't speak for others, but that is not what is intended. However, there are important responsibilities that all players in a game have to each other, and one of them is to play the turn in a timely manner. That means once every 24 hours. If you have difficulties doing this on odd occasions, that is absolutely fine, real life comes first, but say something in the tech thread. However, that is odd occasions, not every week, and certainly not every day.

In this specific instance, the complaint is that you haven't even logged into the game, or checked the forum in 2 days. If you are not able to keep up with the demands of the game now, are you going to be able to keep up with them when the game is more intense, emotions flare, and the turns take a significant amount of time to play (war turns upwards of an hour)? Perhaps it would be better for someone to play the game and you ded lurk them (ie play as team mates, or they take the majority of responsibility in turn playing)?

To everyone else: it's like Gaspar said. It's better to have this conversation now, than to in 50 turns.

I agree 100% with Krill here. To me, at this point regardless of whether it is a lack of willingness or a technical problem preventing Zaldax from logging in, he is apparently unable to do so reliably. My preference is to allow the civ change as requested by the replacement and to let Zaldax be a contributor as a dedicated lurker to that team so that we can get the game going before much more time passes. It will take Serdoa little time to make that change, so flug, maybe inform Serdoa of your intended civ now so that we can hopefully have this done and the game started.

Zaldax still has 11 hours in the timer before the turn would have been missed. I am advocating that we have everything lined up as a backup contingency so that Sunrise can take down this version and replace it with the updated for Flug version in 11 hours. Is everyone in agreement with this? I don't want to be pushy, but I am trying to be organized and proactive in case Zaldax doesn't play by the end of the timer.

Thanks everyone.
