I have a decision to make pretty soon ... where to settle my first city. Options are ...
#1 - On the hill south of the copper ...
... or, #2 - on the flat south east of the copper ...
Pros of #1 - on a hill
- can work both capital cottages
- access to the oasis
Cons of #1 - less hammers in the long run
- needs border pop for high food tiles
- only has one high food tile
Thoughts / suggestions / comments? Any other pros / cons to help me decide?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I am first to plant a new city. I ended up putting the city ('A Little Sad') on the flat, next to the copper and pigs. Tech is on animal husbandry but science percentage is 0% as expenses went from 0 to 5 with my city.
We'll see if I really am first to 2 cities next turn ... remember, I play each turn first.
My touring warrior did manage to stub his toe ... on another panther and expired. I also captured a bear with my city settling. Will it bounce out next turn or will it be there forever?

As long as an animal unit has a tile to move to that is outside of player borders, it will move.

Well - it turns out that I was only first to a second city because of turn order. Queeg also founded his second city. But he did better than that, he founded a religion in it at the end of turn. Nicely done.
So ... as you can see, his tiles jumped out from 19 to 36. That gives me enough information to guess when he put his 2nd city (assuming it is a city reaching for copper / horses ... and why wouldn't it be?).
If he settled where I did, then his dot map would look like this ...
... and he would have 2 x 21 - 2 - 2 or 38 tiles. As he only has 36 tiles, he settled on the hill ... like so ...

Stupid me. I was chasing Hinduism and I borked it by putting a turn of research into Mysticism Meditation (thx Ilios) by mistake. Corrected my mistake the next turn ... only to lose out on the religion by 1 stupid turn. Bah! Anyway, writing next and then Monotheism (with a library powering it on).

And the barb cities are coming too ...
This is one closely packed map ...
What type of city is that?
Pretty good. Also - any avenues of attack are across a river. Red is Oxy and he is the other Philo player. He and I are racing for Mids. BTW - Commodore (Green) landed Stonehenge. I knew someone was building it but I thought it was Industrious India (Qgqqq).

Er, don't you need Mysticism to be able to research Polytheism?
