Fast turns

It would really suck if there was no food for that gold and I had to share with the cap. I would be very unhappy with that.

Well, this isn't looking pretty. So far, I have my choice of unappetizing options - red circle, which forces red square if I want the rice or one of the blue circles, which has no food in the first ring and forces a chop for the granary.

Note that three of us got techs last turn, presumably hunting, and jowy is still working on his first.

We are up to turn 9 now - the scout is heading north. There's not a lot in the south to show. Jowy picked up Buddhism, which seems (to me) to be a poor use of early beakers, but it does give him the early lead in GNP, for what that's worth.

I'll post picks next turn - I didn't realize I didn't have pics of my southern land (not that it's very good) - I can't even get irrigation down there, so it just basically sucks. There are some cities, but they won't grow all that well until I can get windmills. I hope everyone else is as boned as I am.

Turn 10.

Things are happening.

First, the known world:

It's crap land down there. My choicess are the red sites and then blue sites. Blue has an advatnage in that I can squeeze another city in, but it's a piece of crap - no food at all. The scout is heading into the jungle to see what crap I have up there. Lighthouse is looking strong on this map, I must say.

In the cap, I decided to pasture the cow first, then go get the corn. Why? Cause I can get a 7 yield tile up very fast and use it to build the terrace pretty fast, too. It says 8 turns for the quecha, but it will be faster as I move to the cow in 4 turns.

I didn't notice this before, but if you look at the crop yield, someone definitely built a WB - no way do they have a worker this fast, with an improvement. They improved a fish, too, which is nice for them. Or, I suppose, they settled on sugar. Nice start.

As I mentioned, you can see that Jowy has buddhism. He also teched something else, I think.

Turn 12

Something happens!!

To be precise, we meet Jowy. Our first opponent has been met. I'm thinking that we all start on a little blob at the 4 corners of a central continent and we have a bunch of islands. Presumably, move inland is the way to proceed. We shall see.

I'm thinking that city #2 goes either where the scout is or on the forest between the clam and the banana, to share the corn.

Also, I'm beginning to think that we were supposed to SIP - if I did that, I'd have several fairly obvious city sites.

Turn 14

The plot thickens...

I have found Jowy's capital and it is near.

Fortunately, Jowy doesn't have a "go kill 'em" UU - unfortunately, he could pretty easily cut off my land expansion off my little isthmus, which I would dislike. So, clearly, my 1st city must go NW, probably on the jungle. Also, I need to optimize to get city #2 and #3 out, since those are likely going to determine how well I can expand.

With my plains cow, I am way ahead in MFG good, though behind in food. Too bad quecha lost C1 - I could quecha rush Jowy if I really want.

I am not going to quecha rush Jowy. In case anyone was wondering wink

But it would be so boring.

10 turns of planning whip overflow, then 6 turns of 4 quecha wandering through the jungle, then a turn of jowy whipping out a warrior or a, worse, an axe, and all I've done is A) waste 80 hammers and B) given jowy was promos wink
