To be honest I prefer to fiddle with the diplomatic side of things, but if the majority in the game seems set against it, I am cool.

Regarding riciulous NAPs, they seem to be hardcoded in the game with the DoFs, but have a limit of 30 turns which does prevent the worst of it, we could limit NAPs to such DoFs?

My ideal times would be:
11:00 - 14:00 GMT
0:00 - 4:00 GMT

My "ideal" times have changed a little from PBEM2 as I am trying to get to work a little earlier since it is my busy time of the year but I am still flexible with remote play. I will leave it up to you, oledavy, to decide if you want to play before me or after. Its been working so far.

I guess I will have to read up on the samples of diplomacy oledavy listed as my only exposure is reading PB1 and PB2 and those seemed a little role-playish. Is that what full diplomacy looks like? Never played with it. It might be nice to try it but I don't know how much impact it would have on the game. I guess I don't care either way.

I think the sequence Woden -> Singaboy has worked pretty well most of the times. Unless you want to slot in a European in between

Haha, I just remembered PB7. Now there was a public diplo game lol

I am sitting on the fence regarding diplomacy.

In Civ 4, I assume turns would take a much longer time thanks to the many units you have in the late game? Maybe not....not too sure.

5. Full diplomacy slows down turn pace.  People will hold the turn waiting for a response from somebody or even for themselves to do diplo writing.  Everyone's been praising the great turn pace that the current Civ 6 players deliver, do you want to risk compromising that?

If it is a lot more work and slower turn pace, then I am starting to lean towards not having full diplomacy but am open to other ideas.

What do people think of using Wet Climate and Abundant Resources. I suggest Wet Climate to add more fresh water on the islands for more housing options and more forests to speed development. And Abundant Resources might "balance" the board a little in the way that everybody should have access to plenty of resources but there is still a chance that someone has "better" resources. I think both should lead to a little quicker game with faster development. Movement shouldn't be too much an issue with both Wet Climate and New Age because a lot of movement should be by water.

Just throwing it out there for discussion.

Limited diplomacy?

I am not really satisfied with the AI diplomacy, takes a lot of attractiveness of the human element in those games away in my eyes.
