Plus one cogs and a boost. A settler now shows eleven turns. Four more turns until the boost to Masonry (camp on truffles finished turn 28).
I'll buy a builder next turn. This builder will chop the forest adjacent to both cows on turn 29 (which should go into the settler). I'll put a commerce district on this tile location later on. After considering, I think I'll leave the marsh and forest to the west of Madrid intact (as a defensive barrier against amphibious) until I can get city walls up. That means there will be two charges available at the next city spot; one charge to harvest the stone and one charge for later.
Woden now has two cities according to score (so that makes three of us).

Interesting...early holy site. Must have good adjacency bonuses to warrant putting down so early.
Settler after the monument (for the northern wheat).
Re-thinking my plans here. Might just switch to a +4 industrial district (tile NE of where I have the holy site marked). I also need to move the northern wheat location 1 tile NW. I think I have a better spot for the first holy site.
Both stone resources (if needed) will be harvested into a holy site at this city location.
Masonry will be the next tech after Pottery then head straight to Writing.

T28 - the setup
T29 - found a strong filler site.
Pottery completed and leading in science (at this point in time). The settler was showing eleven turns before the chop. Eight turns (plus travel time) is not going to cut it. I'll chop the tile to the NE then move over to the stone tile at the next city site (in preparation for harvesting). I'll need another builder out of Madrid anyway (for the cows once they become available).

Improving the stone gets me the Inspiration for Craftsmanship and also a boost to Masonry.
The settler is also speeded up by one turn so there is that. Another chop due next turn. Unless my math is off, this settler should be effectively completed in only five turns. Not bad. I will switch Madrid to growth once I can improve the cows. Another option (probably the better one) would be to purchase the horse tile and improve/work that. Of course, I need to have enough gold to do so, but we'll see.

I am going to buy the horse tile. That means I'll need to stop Masonry and Foreign Trade at one turn from completion (so costs don't increase). I'll switch to Writing/Craftsmanship when appropriate.
Bilbao will take twenty one turns to build a settler (before cost increase) so that isn't going to happen. I'll put some turns into a builder and then start city walls once I finish Masonry. I'll start the campus district immediately once Writing is researched and then finish the city walls and builder afterwards.
Madrid will need to get out a builder and then a trader after the settler. I then will need another slinger before getting out a settler for the northern wheat location.

New city incoming (turn 40). Pretty late third city but we'll make do. I'll switch to Writing next turn and buy the horse tile the following turn. Masonry will be finished turn 37. The scout is going back to Madrid to cover the builder.

Got attacked by the barb scout and the warrior cleaned him up.
Starting to fall behind a little but I do have Foreign Trade and Masonry one turn from completion. By turn 40, I add four points from research/civics, 6 points from the new city and 2 points from population growth at my existing cities (so a total score of 36). I should be able to get Early Empire pretty quickly though (monument completes EOT and I'll work a 2F 2Culture tile at the new city). I need settlers pretty badly.
No other districts yet.

Masonry completed. Back to second in science for whatever that's worth. Somewhat surprising since I have a low pop/heavy cog set up for my cities.
New tile acquired, boosting gold generation. I decided against putting any turns into a builder here. It would have taken eleven turns to complete as compared to seven turns for the slinger (before pop growth). I also changed my mind concerning city walls. I need a defender first before proceeding with the city walls and I think I'll finish the walls before starting the campus.
Improve the horse tile first and then whichever cow tile Madrid acquires. I'll use the last charge on the wheat tile at Bilboa for the eureka to Irrigation. I'll get a pantheon in three turns so I'll want to switch out of God King at that time. I finish Foreign Trade the same turn. The plan is another builder after the current one (with the second one being boosted by Llcum) and use one charge to chop the remaining grass forest (into a trader) and chop/mine the grass hill forest at Bilbao which I'll have to buy.

Looks like I can switch policy cards next turn. Llcum and Agogo FTW! I might detour to State Workforce (instead of Foreign Trade) to get the second builder completion to line up with finishing Foreign Trade so I can substitute Urban Planning for the +1 cogs. Reconsidering the builder micro but need to see how long a second builder takes before deciding.

Pantheon didn't trigger so I'll need to finish Foreign Trade. Someone else finished a Holy Site last turn so hopefully I can get my own up quickly. Otherwise, I could get shut out of a religion if I'm not careful.
