Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

There's been some SP chatter about combining Magnus chops with Goddess of the Harvest. That might be a good way to get a couple of Madrasas out with Jesuit Education early and catch up with a Korea or Netherlands science blast off. In a game yesterday I was able to have two fully developed Holy Sites (with Wats) and Madrasa in two Campus districts relatively quickly.

My single player game with Georgia is doing this. And just waiting for the King level AI to advance to the next age so I can take the golden era bonus of buying civilian units with all the faith I have built up. Anyway, Magnus is nuts, as everyone is finding out.

The next step would be to play far enough to see how ridiculous this gets once Theocracy becomes available....contemplate

Difficult to find the strength to continue a game on Immortal when you have more score after 5-6 Magnus fueled settlers.

I am seriously debating banning him for myself in SP as a variant.

Something else that has been popping up in SP land - apparently you can still build obsolete units despite having a resource hooked up. For example, in vanilla once you had one iron mined and Iron Working finished you could no longer build warriors. Now, in that situation, any city without an Encampment can still build warriors (and upgrade them) while cities with Encampments could straight-build the swords. It's not a relevant point for either Mongolia or Arabia given their UU's but that does change the rush calculus a bit.

Yeah, after a long, hard look I decided Mongolia is my best choice.

Arabia has some decent bonuses to religion (but no boost to get a religion early much like Spain) and thus I could end up with a subpar religion.

And whilst having that worship building cheaply, well that is not enough of a boost.

The Mameluck is nice and the healing very strong.

But the Keshiq holds up better. I can not prebuild them.

But any cavalry calls unit has +3 CS. If I handle my diplomatic visibility and manage a trade route that is +6 strength, not +3 strength. For a total of +9 strength, with a GG up to +14 strength and +2 movement with a GG and Ordu.

I doubt anyone will be stupid enough to take on my delegations but I will for sure try.

The Ordu is a nice further boost to my cavalry and all those bonuses stay relevant for horseman, knights and even cavalry.

Except for a war-cart rush anyone would be stupid to attack me and I get the option to attack/rush someone myself.

So.

Gameplan.

Find neighbours, found a 2nd city, conquer 1-2 citystates, build 2 encampments, establish ordu, get a GG, horses and wreck my neighbour´s day. hammer

As soon as my army is on its way go builder mode.

Deja-vu, anyone? jive

Feeling like I am trolling the other player by recooking my strategy from PBEM # 6 - blame the the guy who rolled the civs, I sure do - I found that the first blade naming sheme not enough to my liking.

We are switching to another fantasy series I love, the Lies of Locke Lamora.

Read it if you have not.

Anyway, some of his more colourfull names can not be used.

A name for every brothel? Really.

Anyway.

Cities:

Camorr (obviously)
Tal Verra (if on the water)
Karthain
Ashmere
Port Prodigal
Emberlain

If I need more then that, it means I have eaten a neighbour or something has gone horribly wrong or right.

Came for the Mongols, will have to stay for the Naming Scheme. Love the books and I do hope you get to use rmore than six names during the game!

Georgia, that is a vanity pick.

I am glad I did not do Arabia now. If another religious civ pops up even more so.

Australia, China and Rome would have been way better.
