Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

XCOM: Enemy Unknown aka the one where Haphazard dies repeatedly

Whoa, you weren't kidding about that. And yeah, friendly fire igniting cars and not giving you an opportunity to scoot away from them always sucks hard.

Just so the history books are clear, I was purposefully being a bit risker than I really *should* have been. I feel I could have won without any losses but the troops were itching to fight and the lurkers have been crying out for death--it's a more entertaining show. i did NOT intentionally make dumb moves, but I did intentionally choose a low cover spot that led to Pling's death (sorry!) and chose to push forward with Iainuki instead of retreat to get away from a burning car. What amazed me the most was zero panic. So, good on us for that!

A rather rough outing, especially that big group of mutons. Was that two groups that activated together, or just one group? I have not seen a single group of mutons that size before. My avatar was not very effective this mission. frown

Pling and Iainuki lost. cry Maybe we can reincarnate pling later on as a heavy so she can finally get a rocket launcher. Next mission may be tricky with the losses and wounded, although we have gotten so many soldiers as mission rewards that we should still be able to field a full squad without much trouble. May be a bit light on experience, though.

I think the Asia mission was the right choice, for the reason you noted: this way we don't need to deploy sats to Asia this month. The scientists will be useful, and are better than yet another soldier.

Good work on getting us through a tough fight, dazed. No panic was certainly helpful, if rather surprising.

It looked like a static spawn stacked with a patrol IMO. Happens to me all the time it seems. If we're going to be raising new soldiers perhaps now is the time to pick up Iron Will in the OTS? That way we'll hopefully have some psychonauts ready to go when the time comes.

The muton's fire also set the car ablaze. Pling is dead. Even if she's stabilized, she's get blown up because apparently XCOM soldiers are too dumb to move their injured comrades away from the burning car.

But as the turn ends, things get grim as Pling dies:

Alas, poor pling, no rocket launcher and no life ... at least she went out in a blaze of glory! innocent Fiery deaths are the best! wink

(And appropriate, as I've been the one calling for death lol )

Nice mission and reporting dazed! Were you trying to get my avatar killed with that super extended flank behind a car? tongue

Hey pling at least a rocket launcher was involved in your death!

You caught me! trying to kill uberfish has been my plan from the beginning! Actually, no on both accounts. Haphazard was supporting you on the long flank and if needed I was going I use your second move to get back begin the wall instead of shooting. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I know that no aliens will spawn between the start and the end of the wall so it was a "safe" flanking move.

Also, piling was sadly not killed by a rocket. It was a muon plasma blast that sent her critical then a car explosion. But a car explosion is like a rocket right?

For the record I also dislke the car explosions without warning, especially the chain ones.
Well at least it'll get the crowd going dancing - glad I was left at base for that one.

Have the save & should be able to play this evening.

Priorities are (1) capture Outsider and (2) try and keep all 16 countries. Any deaths are a bonus smile
