Me too. Just bear in mind, two turns ago he thought we were going to be scrambling to find an army that could hold our last two little cities. If he got chariots set up that fast, then more power to him.
I think it's a reasonable risk in exchange for the chance at grabbing Velociraptor before he can turn all its pop into units, but I admit it is in fact a risk.

Actually I'm guessing it's what he had in Velociraptor, trying to get them home in case we try another chariot raid. They would have managed if we hadn't already advanced axes.
But really his last couple turns don't make a lot of sense to me. He could have held Triceratops for at least two turns, long enough to whip out another unit and guarantee evacuating his Velociraptor units, if he was going to do that. But once he ran with the garrison, I don't know why the spears in raptor didn't just hold tight. I don't really know why they were there in the first place, honestly.

Forgot to post yesterday. Velociraptor has now 2 Vultures as garrison, and has shrunk to size 3. I can hit it in 2 turns with five axes. Debating if that makes sense. He can probably scrape up a third vulture by then, which makes things iffy.

Do you want to ask peace for it ? He can't know how many units we can send right ?

Well, he can see the five. Can't know how many we have behind. We could add another five given 3-4 turns, they're finishing healing.
I guess it can't hurt to offer peace for it. We don't intend to do anything more to him for a while. Don't really expect him to accept, though.

Jowy refused our demand. And built another Vulture, and popped borders, which makes me think he was correct to refuse. If we were one turn sooner, we could have done it. As it is, I think I'll be retreating next turn. Probably got to have catapults to crack this now.
We can try for the barb city as soon as our army marches over there, as a consolation prize.

In theory that would work. In practice I expect a spear to show up.

In practice a spear is not enough, you can probably suicide 2 chariots on it then get the next 3 to hit the vultures. If you have axes coming a turn later that would work. Question is how long would it take us to get a force of 5 chariots up ?

Maybe five turns, counting travel time? Haven't tried to optimize it.
But, well, there's another problem. A full-fortified Vulture in a hill city with 20% culture and combat I is equivalent strength 6 * (1 + 25% + 20% + 25% + 10%) = 6* (1.8) = 10.8. Meanwhile a combat I chariot at Str 4 * 2.1 = equiv strength 8.4. Even a shock chariot would only have equiv str 9.4. That extra base strength on the vultures really helps them once you find some modifiers to add in.
I do believe that the five cities in our empire can out produce the one city of Velociraptor. I just fear that we can't simultaneously do that and actually defend our already-existing empire.
