Thanks for that spreadsheet smile

A bit confusing that number under civics represents the points they got while the number under tech is the number of techs and not the points.

Good overview, thanks! Biggest takeaway for me is how scary Woden is, I didn't appreciate the situation. It really looks like we can't do much though, beyond pushing for growth ourselves.

Also, we have tea, coffee, jade and copper -- and there is still an amenities problem in Myrmidon? Is it war weariness?

Hmm, something weird is going on in Myrmidon, I thought that had gone away when I repaired the farm some turns ago. Will check it.

Yeah, Woden is a beast, and I am not sure why Russia is not doing something about it.

Geography, bad scouting (yeah, boats would be nice) prevent us from seeing an opening with Woden.

Our best bet is snagging another victory over Singa or Oledavy.

A very quick turn after an exhaustive report.

Basically everyone is healed up and rearing to go. Another ram and archer prebuilt will be finished, 2-3 archers are still at Singa´s front and I have offered peace.

If Singa declines, we will go and conquer Aachen.

Grrr... Of course I did not check Myrmidon.

Our NAP (Our DoF as CIV VI wants to call it, runs out on turn 104) which means at least 1 expensive crossbowmen by Oledavy or 2 maybe 3 cheap ones.

Not much I can do until then. I switch in +30% builders policy and I will try to scout a bit more for 5 turns until I can regather my strength.

Also I will build a GG project in Mykenes just to make sure. As soon as we have the military training civic, we could quickly run the +30% encampment policy for maybe a third encampment at dorium and barracks/stables.

2 settlers next turn (slight delay thanks to production increase.) We have 10 turns of forced infrastructure.

Last but not least, Singaboy takes the peace and I offer him a new NAP.

Two double-promoted archers are worrying. Need to track Oledavy's gold very carefully.

The project in Mykenes is a must, I think. One worry that I have is that the world won't be advanced enough by the time we recruit to make the next GG a Renaissance once. If that happens, both us and Oledavy will end up with GG-boosted crossbows, and we probably will have to stay at peace. Hopefully the science leaders will get to Gunpowder soonish, or Alhambram to Reformed Church (assuming he wants Theocracy with all that faith generation).

A bit of a strange position overall. We essentially seem to have two choices: throw our sea of horsemen into a furnace now, hoping to get results and compete with Woden OR turtle up, save gold and beeline Military Science, then do a round of upgrades into Cavalry and throw them at someone. The first is highly uncertain, the second very passive -- by the time we have Cavalry, Woden may well have won the game. Still, I think MilSci is an idea because for it we need only: Castles, Printing, Siege Tactics. Just 4 techs, what a silly tree. The Eurekas, however, are very tricky:

MiSci -- Kill a unit with a Knight (doable, but requires Stirrups)
Siege Tactics -- own 2 bombards (not gonna happen unless we also research Metal Casting, hardly a saving)
Printing -- build 2 universities (again, not gonna happen unless we also research Education)
Castles -- have a 6-policy slot government, that's going to happen for sure, but Castles is the cheapest tech.

So, assuming the MilSci Eureka and the Castles Eureka, we need 425 (milsci) + 660 (siege) + 490 (print) + 195 (castles) + 180 (stirrups) = 1,950 beakers, call it 2,000, nice round number. I looked at some games, and growth rates in science at this stage of the game seem to be pretty close to quadratic with a realistic factor of 0.05. This gives us the following schedule:
Code:
Turn    BPT    Total
99    25    25
100    25.05    50.05

So if all goes well, we could be ready to hit with Cavalry pretty quickly, actually. We would need a Renaissance or Industrial general to boost Cavalry, but that's likely to happen. El Cid would nicely turn one of the Cavalry's into a Corp for us. Cavalry have 7 strength by default over musketmen, which would be the likely defenders. The only thing we would be afraid of really is the Field Cannon, which is itself easily beelineable (Gunpowder - Metal Casting - Ballistics with easy Eurekas for the first two). The upside is that Metal Casting and Ballistics are pretty useless techs, and I don't see anybody pursuing them in near future. Ballistics is also 700 beakers with a very difficult Eureka (two Forts, requires researching Siege Tactics).

We might also want to research Military Engineering for the Armory though, which is another 170 beakers.

What else can we have in terms of a long-term plan?

Another idea, if we go the beeline Cavalry route we will never have many medieval or ren units, so we could consider using up El Cid on making a double-promoted Crossbow Corp (I assume we will have enough money for at least one upgrade, we can loan if not). With Sun Tzu, that would be ranged strength 67. That's basically one-shotting anything short of a knight and the knight gets 60+ damage.

Not screenshots, but not tremendous news so far.

Singa took my DoF and despite that starts to parade troops on my border, no idea why.

As soon as Ironforge is settled I will retreat en masse from that side.

Well, the only good longterm plan there is to continue expanding at the expanse of the two weaker players, Oledavy and Singa.

Woden is in outer space in terms of infrastructure.smile
