Astronaut without sin confounds press, invites trio to control civilization

I'm pretty resigned to not getting it. frown

Also, mackoti's held up the save for a full 37 minutes now, he's doing that on purpose!

Edit: looked in the save, he chopped his FUR forest last turn! That's kind of crazy actually, it saves him just one turn. I'm afraid he cared more than we do, oh well.

It should be pretty obvious from our consecutive whippings and founding of Judaism that we're ready to build something. smile

If chopping the furs is what it takes for him to beat us it's a no brainer.

It must have been a last minute decision though as he has third ring forest he could have used. Or maybe not, thinking about it, as they're probably claimed by his newest cities now.

Well, all he'd seen at the time of finishing that chop was a single whip. So I'd say all this was part of his original plan. He did go to Sailing + Masonry ASAP after getting all the early worker techs; I guess he just thought GLH is really important here. Sucks that our plan is (I assume) just one turn too slow.

Edit: Mackoti's failure to update his thread after playing moves our chances from 5% to 7%!

Since Seven is having lunch, and Mackoti doesn't even have the decency to post a report after robbing us:

Now let's build the 'Mids and stomp on his sandcastle. smile

We were expecting it, but it's still very disappointing. We might need to raze Athens later. :aar:

There were some decisions to make about micro due to the fact that we aren't getting GLH, and are instead getting 2-3 other valuable but more mundane items. The first one's definitely a settler; after that we could get another, or galley then start a settler, or a galley and a worker in some order, or two workers. Anyway I didn't decide anything yet, just worked the extra grass mine over the fish (which went to Europa for the turn) and built a settler.

There was furthermore the decision of what to do with our two workers on the single forest SE of Titan. Since we don't need that chop to finish this turn, we could have one of them leave already and the other finish it in 2t.

I decided to have them both chop. It was a tough call without planning out micro several turns in advance (and knowing whether Titan will make more workers), but this way will let us hook gold t50 and save a point of happiness in Callisto for two turns, and then get started on pasturing Europa's cow a bit sooner, so it seemed fine.

Borders popped in Callisto and I hope Sian takes the hint of our axe and leaves, so we can pasture the horses in peace.

I came up with an updated plan. Let me know what you think. I saved a copy of the old plan in the second tab.

Still gets wonders on the same dates, pyramids a bit more efficiently though. I built settler-worker-galley in Titan. This worker (now "F", as it comes out before the Gany worker) does not need to do anything though - I sent him up to improve Io, and it doesn't affect anything else up through t52.

I had stone city build a worker because it's crap, but that's not important. I had Europa start Moai but once horses are online it should perhaps make a chariot instead. Io and Callisto and Ganymede's builds/growths are pretty finely tuned. Starting t53 we'll run 2 rep priests in Callisto and pump out a prophet in 7 turns exactly (EOT59). I expect Math by then, too.

Planned tech path is Writing - Math - Currency - Meditation - Priesthood - Code of Laws, with Alpha + bulb Philo, Iron Working, Calendar, Metal Casting in some order; and then Machinery - Compass - bulb Optics + Astro.

Now that we've lost GLH though I think we might be a bit more tech-constrained than GPP-constrained (that's a lot of classical techs to get through) so we might have to reconsider a bit.

Edit: attached the sim EOT46. It's short just a few beakers that overflowed into Writing.

Great refinements.

I like Moai in Europa, it actually has the production to build the thing. Io is GP farm material. I think Belligerence should move directly to Ivory after hooking up horses. Work boat and settler in Titan for a southern flood plains city, assuming there is a similar island there. With Rep, ivory and gold we can grow our cities to size 11 while building libraries, war chariots and missionaries. As such I'm sorely tempted to run mixed GP pools. Io can easily support two scientists and two prophets. If we get prophets we can bulb Theology->Civil Service. Yes, this derails our scientist bulbs away from astronomy, but if we're not GPP constrained anyway it's not such a bad thing. We'll just have to bulb Paper, Education and PP before Astronomy. smile

cry no great Lighthouse. OTOH it might be better that Mackoti has the big fat target on him now.

Heh, I was thinking about that too. smile It's highly tempting (if we get Stonehenge). Especially because AP would be pretty nice for us.

I'm definitely liking Moai in Europa long-term, but unsure if we should start it yet. We're still a bit low on military at that point, and Moai is a long-term investment. And the city (we assume) doesn't have religion yet for the OR bonus.
