GLHF I guess? Hopefully your ostensibly weak neighbors prove to actually be so, so you can eventually overtake them and claim territory, but not so much so that everyone else gets there first.

![]() Grassland riverside Gems in BFC? Excuse me? Fish hooked, and I'm tops in food, so at the very least nobody with a Fish start had better hammer access. That's encouraging. OR I could conclude that nobody went WB-first with a Fish (unless they net them this turn too), which means they all had better options. Let's go with the happy assumptions.
You were asking how he got gems at the capital.

The best way to describe him is he's one of the most well-known professional trolls of American sports TV. He's got a rather outlandish persona, which makes him pretty widely disliked, but also there must be some out there that watch him I guess.
that fits to my first impression. if you play with extreme behavior, people will be mad or want to watch for the lolz or even agree... but people will watch
(but I don't know him or the situation personally)
So I've started noodling on cities here since we're getting past the Press Enter turns, and I just don't understand something.
![]() What on earth happened here? There are 2,446 land tiles on this map, which works out to ~129 land tiles per person. I have marked signs showing the "mid" stripe between myself and Xist (north/south horizontal line) and between myself and GT (west/east vertical line). Actually, let's make it more explicit. ![]() You can see the issue here. There are around 50 land tiles that are clearly "mine" and 10% of those are peaks. I could maybe squeeze like 5-6 cities in? The capital is surrounded by ocean, so there's no reachable islands either. The only thing I can figure is there's more land west of the Lion, but it sure looks pretty skinny, so that's one of those things where there likely won't be many land tiles there. And judging by the spread in this area, I'm fully expecting to find another player's borders like 6 tiles west of that Lion anyway. So uh, where's the land? What am I supposed to do with this? Pray that my neighbors settle the other direction? The fact that 80% of the circle around my capital is just water screws me so badly. Compare it to Rome above me whose original start circle is about 20% water or Zulu who appears to be totally inland, though it's hard to tell for sure. |
