Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Sandover(cre/spi) of Egypt

Sandover Wrote:PBEM Mechanics

So I noted on turn 6 that Moogle got his first tech, by looking at the score. The log, however, claims that Buddhism was founded last turn. No one but him can have gotten it, so I am going to assume that score increases from techs aren't added until the player who got the tech actually plays the turn on which he got it, while population increases are added as soon as the turn roll.

FALSE! I just realised that it's the log that is one turn early. Both my discovery of Hunting and the border pop of Sandoria are displayed as occurring the turn before they actually did occur.

Good catch! *paths self on the back*

Keep in mind the turn doesn't roll over when you hit end turn. The turn only rolls over after the last person in the turn order hits end turn. So if you have something that finishes building when you hit end turn then it's finished that current turn still, just at the end of your turn and can't be made use of.

At least that's my understanding.

Yeah, it's actually pretty straight forward but takes some time getting used to.

Sandover's Intelligence Agency

Looks pretty straight forward so far. Timmy seems to be the only one who's chasing Hinduism, no doubt thinking he can catch up with expansion anyway by virtue of his traits. I may of course have guessed his tech wrong, but the only 5t tech that makes sense out of the gate bar from Mysticism is Mining, and he already has it.

Moogle
T0 - found capital
T5 - capital size 2
T6 - discover Meditation (Buddhism founded)

Current techs: Hunting, Mysticism, Meditation

Bob
T0 - found capital
T6 - discover tech, probably Agriculture

Current techs: Fishing, Mining, Agriculture

Scooter
T0 - found capital
T7 - discover tech, probably Animal Husbandry

Current techs: Hunting, Mining, Animal Husbandry

Timmy
T1 - found capital
T6 - discover tech, probably Mysticism

Current techs: Hunting, Mining, Mysticism

Twinkle
T1 - found capital

Current techs: Hunting, Mining

Sandover
T0 - found capital
T4 - discover Hunting
T8 - discover Mining

Current techs: The Wheel, Agriculture, Hunting, Mining

I'm pretty sure this is correct, for example when you were about to raze Washington and kill me in PBEM, I 0 hammer whipped a Chariot. It showed up as soon as I hit end turn and I bet you could see it when you got the save. This means no religion/wonder/tech races decided by a die roll.

You don't think that's a little bit spoileriffic for some of us...? wink

Yeah, but it happened so long ago that I think pretty much everyone knows. Uh, just to be clear he did NOT raze Washington but it was quite touch and go.

Sand Constructor Online

My first Work... ahem, Sand Constructor just finished at Sandoria. It's on its way to build a camp on the Deer. I decided to go for dual Workers out of the gate. Next I'll build a few warriors while growing and after that I'm probably going to spam Settlers and Workers for quite a while. If Bob's starting Warrior walks in on my empty capital without me having time to react on it I'll buy a hat and eat it... Border pop in four turns, at which point I'll have quite a nice view of the surroundings thanks to all hills and peaks.

My Zergling is slowly working his way east. I don't expect him to find much of use up there but might as well check out the southern rim of the tundra.
