I'm expansionist and organized, so pottery is a high priority, as is Code of Laws. Especially with my great courthouse and the fact that spies are less nerfed than usual, expansion is really the name of the game here. Defense is important, too, so I think my tech path is:

Pottery
religion
priesthood? Oracle->CoL would be nice.
Writing
Sailing.

With agri thrown in there, somewhere.

This is my explored land. This is from before I moved last turn and I think I have silver to the south, as well, but I'm not sure and i dont' remember exactly where I moved, so i can't recreate it.

Lots of food and pasture resources, light on the agri resorucs. Couple of sources of happy (gems, fur), plus various calendar happy sources, too.

I still think the pigs/horse area is my first city, if just for the easy trade routes. But hooking up the fur would be nice, too. But picking up a good food/hammer spot is probably more important.

Well, this is interesting:



Does a flatland mine imply a mining resource there? Or can it just be a mine? Does anyone who has played this type of map before know?

Grow to size 4 and it will make 13 food+hammer. Interestingly, 13 is exactly 20% of 65, which is the cost of a settler. For expansive me, it's a 3 turn worker.

A mine is a mine. I'm not sure if Seven's script puts improvements on resources, but it definitely doesn't have to be.

So, at size 3 (not 4), bethlem makes 14 foodhammers (not 13):



Which means 5 turn settlers.

each hill mine is another 2 foodhammers, which means at size 4, I can get 4 turn settlers (with some overflow - 1st one is 5 turns, but 4 after that), which seems like a good idea, so I'll grow after I get city #2 out. 3 turn settlers requires 21 foodhammers with overflow, so that's several sizes larger and probably not worth it.

it's something like 10 turns travel after I get them, which is probably 15 turns away, at least. So, I'll definitely run into a spear and die. So that's not a good idea

Got my 2nd city built, i'm last in doing that, which isn't surprising with my techs. I hope to catch up, though.. this combo should get it's infrastructure up fast.
