As expected I did the not so smart move of not moving but settling in place without your wise guidance. Yeah, 1 culture from the coffee would be nice, but I like to scout for CS even more.
Played my turn 10 minutes ago.

I think it's only a minor drop though, settling in place we get to work the horses immediately, which gives us faster growth to 2. I would even say the biggest thing we've lost is using the boosted settler vision to reveal more of the map

There we go.
My warrior managed to get stuck on a swamp so one turn lost to turn south.
I agree, getting culture more quickly would have been way smarter then production.

Yeah, I mean settling on somethign like coffee nearly doubles culture output, I'm always happy to see an opportunity to settle on it. NVM, we need a handicap to equalize with the field!
The other part of the handicap, is that the tile-picker will fuck around with coffee and cows before giving us the tile we really want -- the forested hill. Conversely, on the coffee, horses would have been the first tile picked, JUST AS PLANNED.
That jade spot looks amazing.

Yeah, the smart move would have been to settle the coffee and settle the jade.

So, we need a builder real quick here, the tiles suuuuck in abscence of it. Maybe even straight after the scout, depending on the barb situation. Tech priorities are mining, of course. Will then figure out whether we take BW before pottery -- jungle clearing is a must here, and we kinda wanted to build hoplites too.
What's the Great Person situation?
EDIT: Jade is still very much settleable.

Yeah, builder after the scout to make the tiles worthwhile. Animal Husbandry and Mining to improve the tiles worked are the next order of business.

Also, given that the warrior is already slow-moving, and we need to scout in all directions anyway, I would suggest to send him southeast and then east across the river. The scout can then make use of the clear terrain to the south.

Well, I made the mistake of reading a bit of the PBEM 1 comments. Ouch, especially Sullla´s page #2 is devastatingly concise, short and honest.
Well, the best I can do is prove everyone wrong.
The plan right now is:
Scout->Worker->Settler if I can pull if off.
Planting on the Jade seems the best bet.
It might also be an idea to rushbuy one good tile to rectify the settling mistake a bit.
Especially that 2 production hill tile, the Expansion won´t pick that up probably.

Don't be at all preoccupied by comments. This is a game, and it's here for fun. You've done some pretty weird stuff in the first game, but we all, absolutely all have been there. The greatest asset for any game is morale. Have that fighting spirit, especially as you are facing a bunch of newbies. I mean, one them picked Russia! As we speak he might be talking to his thread about spamming Lavras.
We have a cool civ with a nice start. We are deeply landlocked so thank fuck we didn't pick Japan, just think what a doozy that would have been. All we need is a solid plan, and some determined implementation. Will there be mistakes? Sure, a ton! Who cares, though, the point is to make the most of the situation we are in, and it's just more fun to look for opportunities rather then dwell on mistakes. Mistakes you just make less and less of as time goes on, happens almost by itself.
Gold is pretty valuable, so really shouldn't be thrown away without good reason. Here, we will have a couple of mined hills, which are nice, horses, cattle -- that's more than enough to keep us going for a while.
Overall, the most important thing is to keep your eyes on the ball. At the moment we need knowledge and flexibility, whatever you are doing in-game just ask yourself -- is this contributing to knowledge or to flexibility? Is there anything that would contribute better? Come with quick metrics, too. For example -- max new tiles revealed by the warrior in next five turns, when choosing direction.
And finally, always look at scores whenever you login
