[NO PLAYERS] PBEM5 Map Making & Lurkers

OK, so two questions for this game right now:

Japper007 Wrote:As you can see we are not far behind Pindicator, and ahead of Alhambram. I think that once I hit Mercenaries and 4 Xbows (three of which are then double promoted ones right on pindicators border shhh ) I'll be able to take him singlehandedly. A lot of his military score is still tied up in obsolete Warriors and archers, possibly even the scouts he had out earlier. I might just go in earlier without Alhambrams backup, he's free to join in 16 turns if he still wants to of course.

I reserve the right to change my mind if pindicator shows up with Xbows or Knights on the border though...

1) What is Japper talking about? This sounds completely crazy to me. Pindicator has America's +5 strength bonus on its home continent and Defender of the Faith for another +10 strength in cities within his religion. That's +15 combat strength to the defending American units! eek Oh and sure, pindicator doesn't have crossbows NOW, but he certainly will react and upgrade his archers the moment that he sees Japper preparing for an attack. Those "obsolete warriors and archers" can easily be upgraded to swords and crossbows and pindicator seems to be doing fine on gold generation. "Going in early" without help from Alhambram seems like the height of overconfident play to me.

Isn't Japper supposed to be a MP ladder guy? He was crushed in PBEM4 with awful military tactics and seems a bit clueless here about his neighbor. It makes me wonder what the heck goes on in those ladder games.

Alhambram Wrote:And I made decision, Pindicator needs to be stopped, otherwise we can already concede now in favor of him. He is really running away at this moment.
DoF with Pindicator has run out, so I can do this now:

I sent both same offer to give singal: after 18 turns war! I await for their reaction next turn, hopefully they do, if they don't response next turn, then I start feel uncertain to carry out my plan.
I don't need them accepting offer, if one of them do my plan is exposed. Hopefully they realize what I mean with 18 gold. This is best what I can do with AI diplomacy.

2) I don't get this either. Pindicator is definitely ahead, but I don't see him as being so far ahead as to be running away with the game. The notion that Alhambram is going to run halfway around the world to attack a non-neighbor seems crazy to me. How would he ever be able to keep any territory conquered given the ridiculous supply lines? Won't Japper just reap all the spoils if they attack pindicator together? I'm struggling to understand this decision.

Why not go attack Jester instead? China's the weakest player by far and that's his other neighbor to the east. Jester hasn't updated his spoiler thread in weeks and seems totally checked out on this game. I think that's a smarter play than trying to hit someone who has the +15 strength defending advantage and isn't even a neighbor. Or am I missing something here?

Big science and culture numbers don't seem to mean anything in Civ6 if you don't judiciously apply them for certain military techs or boosting civics

Yeah, that "offensive" if you can call it that is completely baffling to me as well. Legions have just become outdated (crossbows are here) so where exactly is his advantage?

It now depends on how adept Pindicator is at war, Japper is however quite clueless from that engagement. Pindicator already recognized that the weakest point was not attacked.

And even then, Japper could manage to conquer/burn Transylvania. And then?

I think too much SP playing shows. Just attack the CPU even if you are not ready.

The only thing you missed is the  popcorn  popcorn popcorn.

Japper is attacking walled cities yet doesn't have a ram on the front ... or even built yet. On the turn Japper declared war the ram is 8 turns away from the nearest Pindicator city  shakehead Unless Pindicator horribly misplays it looks like Japper's attack is destined to fail. The best thing for Alhambram to do now is probably jump in on Japper's back side while his military is all engaged with (or destroyed by) Pindicator.

Japper007 Wrote:Well as any genlurker already knows, I royally screwed my offensive against pindicator, DotF plus America bonus screwed with my expectations of how many attacks my units would survive.

Time for some more unit builds, turtle up-->second wave. I think a grinding offensive favors me, with baths I can keep up amenities without to much trouble so I can wait for WW to eat at pindicator.

Serious question here, not me being a jerk: does Japper have any idea what he's doing in these games? He seems to have fallen on his face in every PBEM game played thus far and his analysis is not improving. I don't understand how anyone could think they have the advantage against pindicator in this situation. Color me confused.

I would not be so quick as to consider Japper in over his head.

The AI in CIV VI is mind bogglingly bad. You can get away with an attack like Japper did easily in SP.
Japper has not yet done any offensive action, just a bad defensive one in PBEM #4. All other games are still ongoing and the only way to go forward and to learn.
Is this attack a totally, misplaned screwup to the point of delusional?

Absolutely. But how else exactly is someone supposed to learn? alright

At last, knights have a chance to shine, instead of being obsoleted without accomplishing much

Hmm, maybe I am crazy, but I think both Alhambram and Pindicator would benefit from a DoF, especially if Alhambram gets Rome. A nice defensive border and both could expand somewhere else.

But with AI Diplo, who knows what might happen.

Depending on the fight around Glorious Terra, we could have a farthest into late-game PBEM yet.

Too bad for Krill that all the Victory Conditions, other than the not-happening science to prevent the game from continuing indefinitely, are about being better than your opponent. I think they did this intentionally so that the VCs are the same difficulty for each difficulty level.
