Jowy declared war on Commodore. Jowy has possibly better military tech but Commodore has significantly more power. Moreover, Amicalola's stack appears to be headed towards Jowy too. My initial read is that Commodore manufactured a double-team on Jowy the same way he got me to attack Gavagai and Jowy preempted him. Remind me never to trust Commodore an inch.
I will start the GA next turn. The key is to build the Taj while still in the GA which should work out, possibly with some wealth builds. It seems Jowy has other worries than to compete with me for the Taj. I can prebuild 2 turns of the Taj with overflow from a maceman and a grocer. More would be possible only with wonders for which there is not enough time.
In domestic news, I settled the first city (#29 total) in the dead zone between Gavagai and me. Another settler is done next turn. The bank in the capital is also finished next turn. With the GA and bureaucracy it should add 60 gold in savings turns by itself. Philosophy is due next turn too. Six cities have been converted to Hinduism. All important cities should be Hinduistic within 5 turns or so.

Started the GA, +457 gpt is more than I expected. (And calculated. I wonder how I messed that up.) Costs are up to 550 gpt. I hope to finish some banks and courthouses during the GA, maybe even the Forbidden Palace in AT's former capital.
Amicalola attacked Jowy.
Not sure he is getting anywhere.
Tombola is pre-building the Grocer for the Taj. I will refrain from converting Tombola until the overflow from the Grocer is in.
The seed of the eastern stack.
Three knights, 1 maceman and 4 catapults are still around. Legerity will add knights. I could one-turn them but I think letting it grow is better.
Two knights will be produced every 3 turns.

Founded city #30 and renamed some cities with words from page 41.
I seriously underestimated the effect of the golden age. I can have Nationalism in 4 turns with minimal or no wealth builds. However, this wouldn't help because the pre-build for the Taj cannot be completed in time so the Taj would not actually be faster.
Some more calculation shows it would be possible to build the Taj a turn faster. Would require sigificant pain, starving slightly to run a citizen specialist instead of a grasland river town kind of pain.

The contingeny stack spooked Amicalola as of course it would. Someone with experience would see that in advance. Amicalola pulled his stack out of Jowy's territory and showed a couple pikes at our border. Tbf he wasn't getting anything done in Jowy's PRO-longbow-infested lands anyway.
I offered a Clam/Clam deal in addition to the existing Fish/Fish deal and pulled the stack back a bit.
I think I will position it on the gold. It can reach Diegesis in three turns from there but is significantly farther away from Amicalola's border region. I hope Amicalola gets the message. Otherwise, I just caused him to stop damaging my main rival.

Earlier Commodore captured one of Jowy's cities. Jowy built the Statue of Zeus which I had briefly considered as another Taj prebuild item. Would have been a bit wasteful though.
I don't think either Commodore or Amicalola will get much more done. I'm not sure I would want to invade Jowy even with rifles. His longbows are incredibly tough. A large pure knight stack could possibly do some damage but that would be an entirely destructive move. You would never be able to hold any cities.

I totally should have switched to Mercantilism along with Caste System and Bureaucracy, of course. Would have helped with hammers in Tombola and the artist in Diegesis and a bunch of other little advantages. Would hurt the bureau capital a bit but on balance it should increase total commerce too.
Also I'm not sure I will ever switch out of Caste again. Maybe briefly to whip some cannons but then maybe not. Almost all of the island cities have at least OK production now.

Hoo, boy. So I invested some espionage into Gavagai to see what he is doing. I got city vision of one of his closer cities as I had hoped. Which is a good thing since that way I spotted Gavagai's 80 unit stack.
Change of plans. We are doing Engineering first. I did not ask for peace, did not change anything. Maybe he will miss that I saw his units. Once I have some pikes and more formation knights I will maybe sue for peace. It's possible he dislikes Commodore more than me. Though I wouldn't count on it. If he moves towards AT's territory I have to abandon the new cities but I am pretty confident I can hold AT's old capital. If he tries to go for Legerity things get tricky. It will be incredibly bloody in any event.
Another problem is that I'm exposing the eastern border now. Atm the other nations there are all busy. But that can change quickly.

Gavagai's stack didn't move. I asked him for peace. We'll see what he does. Engineering is in and I changed some build orders to more units. The evaluation remains the same. He would be able to burn down some satellite cities but I'd likely be able to stop his stack before it gets anywhere important. However, such a battle would cripple the Roman army.

Gavagai agreed to a peace treaty.
Amicalola captured the city he was besieging. I also found Commodore's funky longbow stack in Jowy's lands. It's unclear to me if he can make any headway.
Next turn Nationalism is in, a turn late. It turns out you get the bonus GA turn even if you build the Taj in the turn the first GA would end. That's a pleasant surprise.
I will make another big overview post one of these days.

Lewwyn's stack seems to have disappeared and there is a beat up stack of Superdeath in his (SD's that is) territory. It would be quite something if Lewwyn really lost everything. Power graph will tell I suppose.
Taj in 5 turns. With the free engineer from Mercantilism no painful scrambling is necessary.
Amicalola has advanced towards a lightly defended city with some knights and other units. Main stack is staying put in and around the captured border city.
Pictures probably next turn. There is something I want to wait for, see below.
