Astronaut without sin confounds press, invites trio to control civilization

Updated sandbox. The sandbox is 1 beaker ahead of the game, everything else seems to be in sync. The save is from T55, ready to hit end turn.

We got a 1.2 factor on our math beakers this turn, so noone we've met has mathematics yet. Yuri completed the Colossus in Thessalonika, that city is going to culturally crush Luna. Well, we only founded it for stone anyway.

Interestingly, our galley with an axe and a war chariot will be in attack range of both Thessalonica and Mackoti's island city next turn.

Seven and I played turn 56 while chatting just now. Noone has Mathematics yet. Luddicator have rexed out to 7 cities now, same as us. They've researched Iron Working and seem to be claiming the jungle.

I expect Seven to give a fuller report once he's slept and recovered his internet connection. In the meantime, here's an updated sandbox.

Sian's workboat sees the island. Hope he doesn't get too uppity about it. I'm glad we can overflow into a defender there.

Demos and power, looking good. (Remember just about everyone has iron working on us, which is 10k. The fools. We ignored bronze working for a while and now we shall ignore iron working too.)

That is an awesome picture of our Pyramids glowing blue.

It just struck me that the save made it past YNL without a moment's hesitation - so apparently our Galley threatening Thessalonika didn't cause much consternation. I wonder what to make of that.

Mackoti has the save now, but he shouldn't be able to see the galley.

I logged in to the tracker account just now to update it with Mackoti's new email address, so here is some useless info for our Opponent Psychoanalysis Department: Yuri is playing all the YNL turns, and Luddite and Pindicator are sharing the load of playing Luddicator's turns evenly.

As I posted in the tech thread I need to replay the turn. I'll report then. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Sian offered OB plus a meaningless clam. (Both of us have multiple.) I declined. As much as I'd like to be friendly, OB only benefits him right now. (We don't have our own trade connection mapped out yet, plus he's the only one with a nearby exploring unit.)

There's no land we could reach next to Mack's city, so I moved closer without declaring.

He has a single C1 warrior defending the city. It has 3 hammers invested in a build, so a unit whip is quite likely (and if so I see us turning around). I bet he also has enough gold to upgrade the warrior if he feels it's necessary. I hope he either does both or neither. smile

I decided to keep our work boat out of Sian's sight. The galley I moved such that it looks kind of like it's going west, and it's on a tile he'll miss if he moves SE-NW. It occurs to me that we should really get ourselves vision of the tile 3NW of Io - a galley could move in from there at any moment and raze our undefended city.

I also built a WC in Triton instead of an Axe. The WC finishes t58 and will actually be able to reach the new city to defend it when it's founded t60. An axe would finish t59 and not be able to defend the new city until t62. Given that Sian has seen our city and galley, I feel this might be important.

In the south, I decided to move our WB around the east side of the island. Reason is basically scouting: we'll have to decide next turn whether the galley keeps E or W, and I feel like we'll need the extra information the WB will provide. If this loses us a little food I think that's OK.

The high GNP this turn is actually YNL (via graphs).

Oh btw I offered YNL OB again this turn.

Nice one. I guess our workboat by Io can fogbust that attack vector on Io until we have a garrison in place - the work boat has to wait for a border pop up north anyway. The galley bringing the settler can defog a trade route to Sian and then possibly offer OB and keep scouting?

I tried to figure out what the south island looks like from tile bleeding. It wasn't very successful, but I guess the island looks something like this:

It has the same tiles as our northern island. As you can see I couldn't get the river on the marble (actually the rivers in general) to look the same, the forest 2E of the marble keeps spilling over into the peak north of it, and the forest east of the marble doesn't look right either. It looks like the river and forest rendering are codependent. I wonder if there is some "randomness" in the renderer that depends on the tile coordinates.

Seven pointed out that there should also be a crab somewhere, and he used his flying camera wizardry to figure out the position of the two peaks. So here's a new guess:
