Yuck!
Too bad I can't do much other than adopt my strategy around the current circumstances. The upside is the satisfaction that will come from beating them at their own game, if I manage to do that.

Turn 154
Quote:Amelia,
You will find a gift of Deer and Spice when you open the save. I have no use for them, but maybe you do? Consider it my way of thanking you for being such a good neighbour.
I estimate there's around 7-8 Egyptian cities still lacking the Hindu faith. I'll provide you with a more exact number as more cities are converted.
The save is attached as usual.

Quote:Advisor,
Yes, I will attack you if it ever become feasible as you're being quite a thorn in my side. That is not the point, however. I'm merely suggesting we remain at peace since I'm sure both of us can do without the war weariness penalty. Neither side is strong enough to take on the other anyway.

Quite the contrast, eh?
Mushroom Bush was founded on Teemo Island this turn. I'll build some workshops since the city surely isn't going to lack for food.
This is what Rep + Merc can do to even the crappiest of locations:

Yes, but seeing as the city is so exposed I'm going to let it take care of itself (at least for the immediate few turns). It's a high risk investment and all my mainland ports got useful things to do right now, so I decided that I don't mind if Mushroom Bush is off to a slow start.

You're on the right side of the fence as far as I'm concerned.

A messenger recently arrived at my Palace;
Quote:Sandover,
I graciously thank you for the gift of Deer and Spice. I desperately need the health, and this will nicely replace the seafood resource should you desire it.
Thank you for the estimates for the Hindu faith. I will see to it that the citizens of Lighthouse Point are converted into Missionaries for your benefit.
However, there is something important i wish to talk to you about.
Sleepingmoogle believes you are just waiting till Rifling till you attack. Well, i just got Gunpowder, and i estimate i can get Rifling within say, 12 turns (will confirm when i enter the save). If you attack Sleepingmoogle, i will attack the person on my right (some Khmer?) with drafted rifles as well (if i can get the army in time). Hopefully you see the wisdom of a joint attack, and i hope you won't spoil this plans with others (Who, as far as i know, have no reason to be friendly to you).
Amelia.
Quote:Amelia,
SleepingMoogle is rightfully scared of the Egyptian army, but I honestly have no intention to attack Celtica at this point in time. Samba is heavily fortified and even with Rifles and Cavs I would expect the losses to be too high to be worthwhile. I am, however, keeping the bulk of my forces at that border, which has caused the Celts to call upon Timmy for help. I'm 99% sure that the large Khmer stack of Knights is currently hiding in the fog behind Samba, and I have Galleons in the waters forcing Timmy to stack defenders along his coast. His defences at your common border is likely to be weak, and therefore I suggest we strike there - together.
I'm certain I can keep Moogle at bay with my older units, i.e. my Knight stack and Catapults. Most of my Cuirassier stack of 40ish units can be freed up to help you out in a potential attack, and I do plan to build a bunch of Cavs and Rifles when I finish Rifling in a few turns, so more units are coming. You'd be free to keep whatever territorial gains we make, as I'm in it purely for the sake of revenge.
Interested?

Fun times, don't you think?

Hahahahahahahahaha. I love the Sandover school of diplomacy.
What are demographics/tech like at this point? And the naval situation? Any shot at doing more than threatening port cities?

I'm top of every important category except production, where I've now fallen down to second place. Scooter is quite a few techs ahead of me (Replaceable Parts, Rifling, Chemistry, Economics, Liberalism and Democracy on the top of my head) but I should be gaining on him slowly. The other three are as far behind me as I'm behind Scooter, I'd guess. Reminds me that I should probably do a proper tech summary again soon.
I'm the only one with Galleons in the water. My total navy consist of 3 Galleons and 2 Caravels (my other 2 Caravels were sunk by the Celts). Moogle has 5+ Triremes. Amelia has 1 Caravel, but can build Galleons. Neither Moogle nor Timmy have researched Compas yet, and Scooter doesn't have any naval cities.
Timmy has several Rifles defending his ports now so there's no use in trying a naval assault. I might be able to hit Moogle's port city, but only if he's stupid enough to not pull more defenders into it, so it's safe to say I'm not counting on it. For now I'm happy so long as my naval advantage is large enough to lock down defenders along the coast, and I won't bother building a large fleet unless someone tries to challenge my supremacy over the sea.
