Yeah why not. We'll be working some specialists that won't be affected by Bureau though, so it's slightly lower priority than normal. That's due to Mids and not GLH, though.
Rego asked for the money, we accepted. We have a deal for OB in exchange for money.
I have to run.

It's just not for commerce - the production bonus will be useful given all those hills (the advantage of not settling on the plains hill). And maces.

Bureau affects commerce and production. Scientists produce neither, they produce science and gpp.
The GLH antisynergy is that more settlers take priority over vertical growth. But we can afford to grow our capital and we seem to be almost out of land anyway.
In summary I'm okay with going for Civil Service and then Optics.
I have to run.

I am sure you want a strong capitol becasue if a dogpile is coming you must have something to rely on and a size 20 capital working 14 cottages can do wonders in this case.
And its not antisinergic to grow the capitol big even you setle 1 city latter.

So close and yet so far... (No, in fact not that far at all...)
We don't need to build a workboat in our new city, we have a traveller from afar who needs a rest.
Notice also that the recommended city site is on the horses. Er, no. I prefer settling the stronger 'c' site than two weak sites. But we still have the option.
There are some islands there that we can hopefully settle, although darrell may be targetting them too.
Still no sign of the Hanging Gardens, but Shoot has a couple of workers seemingly doing nothing...
Oops, just realised that I researched Monotheism not Priesthood - I had it on my mind from talking about it before. My bad. OK, a further 1-turn delay in Code Of Laws (unless the extra overflow or cash saved from researching Mono tips CoL into being a 1-turn tech). I kept research at 50% despite making a profit as I was trying not to make GNP look too crazy (or even crazier than it already is). It will look crazy when we go for CoL, though.
Anyway, at the end of the turn, we popped a...
...Great Merchant, which can hop on the nearby galley and travel over to Shoot's island. We should give him the heads up.

Demos before ending turn, at 50% research.
Top 5 cities.
And, given we have visibility on graphs for both darrell and Shoot, here they are.
GNP:

Crop yield:

Oh yeah, rego had 8 cities so 4 gold owed for that turn. Perhaps we should just set up a per-turn offer, although is that visible to other civs?

Ice marble, huh? Definitely part of the sixth continent. I prefer the "or here" spot. We won't be able to steal the clams. Also gives us a stepping board towards the west.
