Looks like the game won't continue
I think the last couple of experiments showed that while it would be nice to play on completely random maps - and maybe map scripts which allow this exist - we gotta appreciate our mapmakers. In this game I absolutely hated that my options were so limited. Unless my exploration was so bad that I missed a galley way off the continent, I didn't have a choice but to go to an early war with Commodore. I didn't like it, I wasn't set up right for it, but I couldn't do anything else. We play Civ to have a variety of options how to play, and while maps can limit the number of options, having it limited to one is not fun
Don't know how relevant all this is though - we may be nearing the end of Civ4 MP. There hasn't been much interest in new games for a while, Mjmd's proposal of a new pitboss didn't have any takers. Personally I've been obsessed with Clair Obscur the last few weeks, and have a number of other games I'd like to play after that, none of the Civ. Maybe the interest will pick back up - who knows......
