At what point are we going to start getting "I'm On A Boat" posts out of this game? smile

The thought did cross my mind smile I figured everybody was going to go there so I wouldn't help overdo it. But since you asked, I'll find a good moment for it.

Turn 29

No pictures, but a quick text update. I have to run to the dentist and am coming down with the flu - it's like the perfect storm.

Exploration has found a clams off the western island. If I put a city down where it was marked in the last photo it will take a border pop to reach the clams -- or I settle on the forest to prevent the need for a border pop but I lose the forest chop. Decisions, decisions.

Regoarrarr has taken the lead in the population race - both of his cities grew to size 3. He also teched Bronze Working this turn. Which means our galley/warrior builder was either Sian or Yuris.

AAA grew to size 3 after ending the turn. Next turn it switches builds to a settler.

Turn 30

The second worker finished out of New Deal and we're naming him Cordell Hull, after the longest serving Secretary State in the history of the US. He served from 1933 - 44 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1945 for his work in establishing the United Nations. Wiki link for more about Cordell Hull.

Right now Cordell Hull is farming the last flood plains. Our VP, John Nance Garner, is mining the hill by AAA. That mine will finish next turn then he'll help Cordell Hull finish the farm, just in time for New Deal to grow to size 3.

Two more score increases. Gaspar's capital grew to size 3. And Yuris researched a tech with no soldier points. I pegged him for The Wheel last tech, so here's betting he just pulled in Pottery.

Turn 31

The mine is done, settler is due in 5 turns out of AAA.
Every good city location i'm seeing requires border pops, so I am strongly considering going Mysticism -> Masonry after Bronze Working. Settle on the stone, and get Stonehenge via overflow. Figured out how to do it without using a forest.

Lots of growth in the IT.
Rego's capital grew to size 4.
Sian's 2nd city grew to size 2.
Yuris planted his third city.
Then Sian got some more land points, putting him in the lead for score.

Turn 32

More score updates, but nothing else really changed.
Rego's capital grew to size 5. He must have gotten that early granary out and is growing. With this land that makes a lot of sense.
Gaspar & Commodore's 2nd city grew to size 2.
And then New Deal grew to size 3 at end of turn!

For those of you counting, city status looks like this:

Rego: 8 pop
Capital (T0) - 5
2nd City (T22) - 3

Yuris: 6 pop
Capital (T0) - 3
2nd City (T19) - 2
3rd City (T31) - 1

Sian: 6 pop
Capital (T0) - 4
2nd City (T28) - 2

Me: 6 pop
Capital (T0) - 3
2nd City (T23) - 3

Gaspar & Commodore: 5 pop
Capital (T0) - 3
2nd City (T28) - 2

I'm not too worried about Rego being top dog. We can just organize a dogpile :neenernee

Rego dislikes our turn pace. I had this message with the email

Quote:Only 2 turns today? Unacceptable!!!!! :-D

Obviously tongue-in-cheek; the pace has been light-speed. We may be getting a bit spoiled; anything less than 3 turns a day feels like we're going too slow!

So on to the actual turn...
(Now with 99% more text!)

Turn 33

I farmed the last flood plains with both my workers. My original micro had it set up so that John Garner would be chopping this turn, but that was before I realized I'd be dealing with -2gpt cost. If I would have started 1SE... well, that was 33 turns ago, let's not dwell on the past. Point is, I had to reevaluate my worker plan and while this doesn't look as elegant, I felt the best thing to do would be to get the farm done a turn earlier. Next turn he goes back up to the forest plains hill to chop+mine. Losing a turn on that action won't hurt where the hammers go to, so I feel okay about the waste. Just okay.

Bronze Working finished at end of turn. Where be the copper at?

One to the south - it would be really cool if that was a 1-tile island - and one far to the west. Changes where I will settle that island's city; obviously we want to go on the hill instead of on the grassland. I wonder if there are any other surprises like that for when iron comes in.

You can see my work boat has hit a dead-end. At this point I need to start hoping the map can't be circumnavigated until optics, or that the other players are meeting similar obstacles in their work boats.

A couple of score changes: Rego whipped his 2nd city from pop 3 to pop 2. Apparently he's gleaned my thread, and since he doesn't want to be dogpiled for being top pop, he's whipping it away. Or he whipped a ??? in his second town. Um, what makes sense. Granary doesn't fit; he's had that town up for 11 turns, he's already built the granary. It's been only 4 turns since the town grew, so he could have thrown a chop + 4 turns at size 3 production, that seems about right. That's my guess. Oh it could be a slew of other things, too. Anyway, he lost a pop for it.

Yuris also researched a tech. Here's guessing it's Mining. After rego lost 1000 soldier points, someone else gained 2000. So if this is Yuris, then that means Yuris was also the person who built the mystery warrior/galley. You know, that 2k point increase came 2 turns before his 3rd city went down. So he probably has a galley roaming about.

Religious techs have to start falling soon. Nobody has gone for them early; in fact, everybody seems to be investing heavy in worker techs. Nobody has built any wonders yet either. I wonder what the record is in a pbem for turns passed before the first wonder or religion is won. We're at 33.

Well, I'm going to start heading down that path. Priesthood has to wait until after Pottery - obviously I want to turn the Oracle into Metal Casting if I can nab it. But I'm going to meander towards Stonehenge as well. I say meander because if it falls in the next 4 or 5 turns then I'll change my tech to Wheel-> Pottery and not miss a beat. But stone + industrious means Stonehenge costs less than a galley to build. It'd be low-hanging fruit.

So the plan now is...

T34 Revolt to slavery
T35 Slider to 0%, research to Mysticism
T38 Mysticism finishes EOT
T39 Masonry
T41 Masonry finishes EOT; also found city #3 on top of the stone
T42 One-turn Stonehenge

What's the micro plan for nabbing it in one turn? Chops? Hammer overflow? and where will it go?
