SPOILERS-Tatan's PBEM10 Thread

Guess what - im Invading again to take another turn of this loverly Empire (HRH Tatan has decided he liked his holliday Villa in the country and has left me in charge againyikes....... the fool lol)

Tatan Wrote:Oh, and a preliminary worker plan:

T11: Move 1NW, pasture the piggies.
T14: Move 2E to the sheep.
T15: Pasture the sheep.
T18: Move 2S to the grassland forest.
T19: Chop the forest.
T22->:???

I say preliminary because I am not really familiar with the improvement times on quick, and also because I am not sure how long it will take to research Bronze Working.

Well, the worker is complete, and as per previous instructions i have started a warrior and started pasturing the Piggies, However i did alittle Numbercrunching (theres a first for evrything you know) and decided to work the Sheep on the hill.
  • Working Sheep first (2F 1H 1C)
  • Turn 11: Food: 0/17 Hammers: 0/10 (warrior) (Farm in 3 Turns)
  • Turn 12: Food: 2/17 Hammers: 2/10 Beakers 10 (Farm in 2 Turns)
  • Turn 13: Food: 4/17 Hammers: 4/10 Beakers 20 (Farm in 1 Turn)
  • Turn 14: Food: 6/17 Hammers: 6:10 Beakers 30 (Farm Built) - Started to work Piggies (6F) instead of Sheep in BFC)
  • Turn 15: Food: 12/17 Hammers: 7/10 Beakers 39
  • Turn 16: Growth! (1/?) Hammers 8/10 Beakers 48 - Now working Horse (1F 2H 1C) and Piggies (6F)
  • Turn 17: Food: 7/? Hammers: 1/? (Warrior Built) Beakers 58

Size 2 City, warrior Built, 58 Beakers Resurch made

    Working Piggies (3F)
  • Turn 11: Food: 0/17 Hammers: 0/10 (Farm in 3T)
  • Turn 12: Food: 3/17 Hammers: 1/10 Beakers 9 (Farm in 2T)
  • Turn 13: Food: 6/17 Hammers: 2/10 Brakers 18 (Farm in 1T)
  • Turn 14: Food: 9/17 Hammers: 3/10 Beakers 27 (Farm Built)
  • Turn 15: Food: 15/17 Hammers: 4/10 Beakers 36 - Now working Sheep (2F 1H 1C)
  • Turn 16: Food: Growth Hammers: 6/10 Beakers 45 - Now working Horse (1F 2H 1C) and Piggies (6F)
  • Turn 17: Food: 6/? Hammers: 9/10 Beakers: 55
  • Turn 18: Food: 12/? Hammers 2/? (warrior Built) Beakers 65

Size 2 City, Warrior Built, 65 Beakers
So yea, i felt the Sheep where a better option.

MORE Fish!!! well damn, even if this landmass is small - we got plenty of food sources. Scores gave me a fright, Qin and Genghis have Jumped to 52 pts and Gilgamesh has joined Bodicia on 45 lookin at:

Demographs

and this screen:

Tell me Qin and Genghis have grown to size 2 already - i guess they have not built a worker yet, but it does explain our low Soldier count Vs our rivals. Also our land area is getting weaker Vs the others so maybe they are running a specalist or have built a monument as we are not due to pop boarders for atleast 2 turns i think (i forgot to Screenie the Capital like a muppet) but that would explain Gilgamesh and Bodicia i think.

Just for fun, i did a Dot Map of our land sofar - im looking at trying to maximise our land, but this is a weak spot in my game (one of meny i can assure you) so feel free to disregard it and make your own.

Tatan, with Mining finishing next turn - im assuming you want Bronze Working next as you have not left a clear tech path (atleast that i can remember). if you want to go down a different route - I hope you get to see the forums intime before the next turns up yikes Heres a Picture of the Resurch screen to help you if you do want a diferent path chosen :P

Tatan Wrote:Ahhh, it's good to be back. smile

Thanks again for covering for me, Adlain; as far as I can tell you did everything perfect, and even discovered an ultra-city site bow!

To go into my early game plan:
As Adlain mentioned, I am researching the Mining technology, which is on the way to the even more valuable Bronze Working technology, with which I can chop out a worker at Darujhistan, and that second worker can then proceed to chop out a settler for my second city. While Darujhistan does various other things still to be decided, my second city can chop out the Great Lighthouse for trade route winnz0rz.

To do this, my tech path shall be Mining->Bronze Working->Sailing->Masonry->Hunting [need the commerce from the fur/ivory], and then probably up to Wheel and Pottery [don't know for sure yet].

As for the second city site, I'm somewhat divided. A city 1 or 2 tiles east of the wheat would be great, snagging 3 foods and an incense for commerce. However, it has some cons:
-A port on the opposite side of the landmass from where the island is will increase the time it takes to colonize the area [and those beautiful, beautiful gems].
-The way it is placed will waste a lot of tiles between it and the cap and some coast tiles toward the east, which may prove irritating if I am really stranded on an island.
-The only way I could possibly get those fishies 6E of the cap would be a crappy little shack on the plains hill nearby.
-I really need some solid production, and this site has a max of two hills, just like my cap. And it will be my port city, so it needs production.

However, it would have three frigging food bonuses, and that is a reason in and of itself. Plus, those plains hills to the west of the cap hold promise as a potential production city. Oh, and I also just realized that lots of food+early BW=plenty of production anyway. Looks like this game will make me intimately familiar with the whip whip.

Thoughts?

Oh, and Adlain, you actually seem to be fairly proficient with the demographics; perhaps you could be my C&D guy since you seem to have infinitely more patience with it than I do lol.

Ooohhh, yeah, lots of food!

I think your dots the way the are are great. I am a little leary of the spot on the pigs, which is a bit tight for my tastes; I would prefer to settle a city on the other landmass to grab the pig and fish, as an uber-colony would in turn speed colonization efforts.

Is it just me, or is there not a lot of natural production on this map? With few hills and tons of food, looks like the whip will be key in this game.

Gah, i seem to have messed up my Numbers alittle, but i think i have rescued it. First things First however, Kruppe has continued West but drawn a blank this time, Just some Planes:

but now for the intresting bit (read: my cock-up): you will note my earlyer table regarding the Build order with numbers:-
Adlain Wrote:
  • Working Sheep first (2F 1H 1C)
  • Turn 11: Food: 0/17 Hammers: 0/10 (warrior) (Farm in 3 Turns)
  • Turn 12: Food: 2/17 Hammers: 2/10 Beakers 10 (Farm in 2 Turns)
  • Turn 13: Food: 4/17 Hammers: 4/10 Beakers 20 (Farm in 1 Turn)
  • Turn 14: Food: 6/17 Hammers: 6:10 Beakers 30 (Farm Built) - Started to work Piggies (6F) instead of Sheep in BFC)
  • Turn 15: Food: 12/17 Hammers: 7/10 Beakers 39
  • Turn 16: Growth! (1/?) Hammers 8/10 Beakers 48 - Now working Horse (1F 2H 1C) and Piggies (6F)
  • Turn 17: Food: 7/? Hammers: 1/? (Warrior Built) Beakers 58
Well, i have managed to work the wrong tile at somepoint (the pigs not sheep) so our capita now looks like this:

We should have 4/14 Food and 4/10 Hammers but instead have 5/14 F and 3/10 Hammers banghead however the farm is completed faster than the 3 turns i swear the game said so we have a fix:

  • Work the Piggies (6F)
  • T13: 5/14F 3/10H - Bronze Working Due in 9 (Current Turn)
  • T14: 11/14F 4/10H - Bronze Working in 8
  • T15: Growth 3/??F 5/10H - Bronze Working in 6 - Work Horse (1F 2H 1C) & Sheep (2F 1H 1C)

  • T16: 5/??F 9/10H - Now Work Pig (6F) and Horse (1F 2H 1C)
  • T17: 11/??F 2/??H (Warrior Built) - Bronze working Due in approx 5T (the extra Commerce may affect when tech is due)

That should leave us back on course.

Demographs:

This shows we are now Rank last in Military yikes. I hope we are right about disconnected land masses otherwise we are in trouble, although the graphs do seem (to me atleast) to show somone has ether a militery Tech (Archery or hunting) or ALOT of warriors.
One nice thing to happen is that we have broken into the Top 5 Citys of the world smile:
This also shows that it is Us and Cyneheard that are the only one with Size 1 Capitals.

I dont know about anyone else, but i could not load this website up from most of the GMT Afternoon - but its up now so on with the Turn.

Kruppe is still mapping out the northen Coast but only got grassland. If we assume that you are correct and we are on a triangular island (and i hope so because if we meet anyone who is aggressive right now we are waving the preverial red flag to the bull) do you want me to follow the Blue line or the Red Line. Blue will be the most thougher, getting all posable coastline resorces, but Red will reveal the internal resorces faster and de-fog any potential barbarians quicker.

Demographs show little to no movment this turn:

What it does show is that we are not the only ones enjoying a bumper haul of food (rival best of 10 proberbly means a 6F and 4F tiles (Pigs and GLFarm?? / Fish & Wheat??) and also Small Production (Rival best over the last 5 turns: 3, 2, 3, 4, 5) so prehaps we could Mine those Sheep on the hill - it would become a 2F 3H 1C, not brilliant but it is some reasonable production that sustains itself, alongside a Plans Horse (1F 4H 2C i think) and Pigs (6F) thats a reasonable +6F 7H 3C p/t at size 3 with 2 GL wheats yet to grow into. worth a thought i think.

Capital:

Not alot to say, we lost out top 5 status cry however we grow next turn, in 4 turns we will have ether a pastured or Mined Sheep and with the pigs, and 2 wheat in the BFC - the whip will be very useful to help our expansion into future city sites.

A moderately interesting turn.

Darujhistan grew to size 2; I work the sheep, so that Daru will both complete the warrior and grow to size 3 in three turns.

My worker starts building a pasture for the sheep; seeing that it is not named and there is nothing I can come up with for it in my naming theme, I dub him Coca-cola [guess what I was drinking at the time lol].

Kruppe decides to follow the red line and cut through the center of the island in hopes of defogging a potential 2nd/3rd/4th city site.

More yummy corn! [Spends several minutes searching for a corn related pic]
[Image: that-burger-youre-eating-is-mostly-corn_1.jpg]

As you can observe from the scouting picture, I have also added/adjusted signs for the cities. Another possible city site might be 1SW+1W of Kruppe's position, with at least three hills for production and two corns.

I forgot to take a demographics pic, but one interesting tidbit... notice that Cyneheard still has not increased in score [!]. Perhaps he is researching a particularly expensive tech such as...
BRONZE WORKING?!!

Unfortunately, I don't actually have any clue.

Seeing as I seem to be trapped in an enclosed area with no nearby enemies, I was thinking that after the warrior, Darujhistan should build a worker, which will take 4-5 turns. After BR comes in, Coca-cola can then immediately go to chop a forest. By the time he finishes, Darujhistan will have finished the worker and started on... a SETTLER for city #2.

Thoughts?
